[VU+ Solo SE] Flashing a new VU+ Solo SE

I have connected the fat 32 formatted USB stick in the USB port and switch on the box by pressing the back button and it doesn't seem to do anything, just the light is flashing

I can see just a black screen, the TV doesn't detect the box

What can I do?

Have you put image on usb stick ?

I really freaked out. I thought I had lost my box.

The problem is that I wasn't prompted by the VFD "you can power down the receiver and remove the USB stick".

Thanks god I just waited long enough to switch off the receiver and remove the USB stick, then I got the VIX image running

Everything is running now and working. Best image ever seem where everything is there and working

With the VU+ Solo SE you flash the image as follows.

The image when downloaded is in a file structure vuplus/solose/
Copy uvplus folder to the root of a fat 32 formatted USB memory stick.
Make sure ON/OFF switch on back of Solo SE is set to OFF.
Plug in USB stick.
Switch on Solo SE.
The front LED will flash on and off. Then after a short delay will start to pules, dimming and brightening.
When the flash is complete the LED will start to flash again.
Switch off the Solo SE and remove your USB stick
Switch on the Solo SE and the new image will start.

That's what I did but I was expecting to see in the display "you can power down the receiver and remove the USB stick" as it says in other VU receiver images, it is dangerous relying in the light flashing that you can bearly see

It could be a new feature request for VIX images when flashing to show on the VFD the flashing process as in the guide attached "Reading USB, erasing,flash, programming and finish, remove the USB stick and reboot


By the way does anyone knows how to enable the display on the receiver, my one is always OFF, even playing channels, there s not light on the fron of the box?

There is no VFD display on the Solo SE.

The VU+ Solo SE does not have a display, hence the use of the LED when flashing.
None of the 10 or so images makers that provide images for the Solo SE can do anything about that!
VU+ did not include a display to keep the cost down.
LED work great in my opinion.

No just the Solo, Solo SE and Zero, the rest have a VFD, LCD or both.

the flashing status on screen is a good idea though
gigablue have something similar using ofgwrite which displays on your tv the progress of the flash.

That would be nice. If you are not used to flash boxes when you see nothing displaying you freak out and the first thing you do is remove the USB stick and there is where you get in the mess.

Thats why you should read and fully understand the particular flashing instructions for your receiver before you try to flash a image in the first place.
