freezing

Hi, i'm now a month into using the solo2 box and very good it is to, i do have one problem though, the picture freezes now and again, the only way to sort it is to switch it off at the rear, its got the latest vix image on it, i also do the online update, when there is one, what could be causing this? thanks in advance.

by freezes, do you mean stops & starts again?
what channels does this happen on?

Thanks, doesn't seem to matter which channel its on, it did it today, it just freezes and there's no response from the remote, the only way to get it back is to switch off at the back.

menu> information>about> check the system temperature. mine is 37 degrees but any thing in the 40's will be fine too. if its higher than that adjust your fan to compensate for the hot weather.

i have been keeping an eye on that, at the moment it's 39 deg.

Then heat is not a issue obviously.

Could it be anything to do with the image?

Have you got debug logs enabled? Might be worth enabling and looking at the logs, but if it just freezes, it's probably unlikely to show anything... But worth a go...

i presume that setting gets rid of bugs? i have never seen a box with so many settings

No, that setting just stored everything that your box does to a debug log file, so that in the case of a crash, or hang, it will detail what was happening at the time (hopefully)...

fta are fine, as are most channels, just freezes every other day.

Hi Scouse645, I too recently have had this issue where the picture freezes on FTA channels & the sound continues. I read on another post that someone had also had this issue & after removing auto deep standby the problem went away. Following this I clean imaged my box with VIX 708 did not enable deep standby & to date have had no issues....Spevs

Hi, since i read your post i have not used deep standby, i don't know were auto standby is but i have put it in deep standby a few times before your post, now i don't do that and it has been fine since, don't want to tempt fate but that seems to have worked, thanks spevs for your advice.

Hi Scouse645, pleased to hear you have had no more issues but if you want to find Auto Deep Standby settings go to Menu\Main Menu\Timers\PowerTimers in there you can add Auto Deep Standby timers if you wish, although in light of the issues we have had recently I would not recommend it for now..........
