Gigablue Quad UHD 4K ULTRA HDTV Linux E2 Combo Receiver Available from: 15.05.2017?

Maybe but the Giga doesn't have the 3 tuner buses, it's these little refinements that can cost serious money.

Agree with your comment, and the ability to have the fbc cable tuner is a real (& unique) added bonus for those that need it (80 Euro's more) .... but you only bnefit from the Ultimo if you need 2 FBC tuner cards otherwise the comparison is accurate ........ provided of course the GigaBlue actually delivers:)
If GiGa show any signs of going through the Vu+ Solo experience, then my box will be on Ebay immediately!

the only thing that makes me a bit apprehensive about buying one on release is that GigaBlue have not made any noises about the new boxes unlike Octagon with the release of the sf4008

... but neither did Mut@nt, but they keep delivering on promises, Octagon talk a lot but find it harder to deliver ... already Kodi has slipped and that was a hard promise....... but with GigaBlue we shall see, they have not always been brilliant at delivering support & fixes, so I am waiting with crossed fingers and toes. Just wanted to try out the FBC angle, which so far has been pretty interesting but not that positive in terms of results..... but early days.

I like the fact ultimo can house a 3.5inch HDD tho

Looks identical to my quad the wife wouldn't suspect a thing until she does my accounts next April ;)

Really interested in this but adding a cable tuner as well.

but the Giga doesn't have the 3 tuner buses,

Can someone explain the above to me.

Both the Ultimo and Giga 4K have 3 tuner slots so one assumes that both receivers have data buses to each tuner ... the difference is that the Ultimo can do fbc cable tuner.
Without a complete technical spec, which specifies data bus bandwidth between cpu and tuners and how they timeslice there is no way of comparing other than head to head..... and until it's delivered there is no way of knowing how good (or not) the 4K will be in operation.

hi guys,

Seems many are purchasing the 4K receivers nowadays - I'm still struggling to understand why?

There are very few 4K UHD channels across euro/ motor and unless someone can explain how I can use a 4K receiver on Sky Q UHD then I don't see the attraction?

Love to hear comments/ clarification please?

More to life than just 28.2. Loads of 4K options when using a motor setup (others will confirm this). If you want simplicity & just plug & play then stick with Sky's Murdoch. If on the other hand you wish to be able to customise, I.e. Different Skins to try/use to suit users tastes, Full Working Kodi (for users that prefer to have an AIO experience), Customisation of Bootlogo's, Channel Picons on your LCD display screen etc etc. This list is endless. Oh and 4K media playback.. People just think 28.2, but its not just 28.2, loads of TV out there..........

On the head there Andy, and it is not often I say that lol.

But even with a motorized dish. How much 4k content is actually there? How many satellite channels are broadcasting in 4k?

To be honest, thats the least (4K) of my concerns.... so far the Arm receivers have given an excellent picture on both my Plasma TV's as well as my 4K Monitor.
The Arm receivers give a real silky feel to everything, with the faster Arm processor and also better environmentals (energy) than the MIPS receivers..... and are also (hopefully) 4K compatible for the near future.
Running Kodi, I find the HD51 as fast as my dedicated Android/Kodi box and in some areas better e.g. Kodi 17.x is a pig on many Android boxes.

But, I also like to play with both the hardware & software, as it lets me get back to my techie roots ... so I am probably not perhaps a typical user.

Does kodi run on Mut@nt HD51 using Vix the latest Vix image ? and is it in plugins.
