Hard drive problem PLEASE HELP

This is one of my first posts on here but I am stuck so need help

hope you guys/girls can help me out =)


I recently purchased a VU solo 2 from Wos and am very happy with it BUT

when I got the box it had no hard disk so as at the start I used a 2tb USB drive WD My passport ultra

and a usb key to flash it and use for epg & picon data all works fine

to free up the wd for other uses I purchased a WD 25 AV 2.5 hard disk I put this inside the VU no problems

mounted this and its now the default MOVIE drive

the problem I now have is the USB 2tb drive wont work on other devices as its been formatted to the VU special format

I have tried on a MAC , PC and even a Xbox one to format it back but the light goes on

but I cant format it even see the drive the WD PC tools does not see it even

But the VU sees it and it works fine on there so I know the drive works OK

does anyone kis there a special program for PC , MAC or a VU app to format it back to fat 32 or NTFS

so I can use the drive on my PC as before ?

If I cant use it as before I am tied with 3tb of storage on the VU bit over the top 1tb is totally fine

Try a program called hddguru. Just google it. If it can see the drive then give it a low level format. Then a windows format.

The disk will be formatted ext3 or ext4.

"HP USB disk storage format tool" (many download sources if you google) will work on a PC. Over the years I've used it many times to reformat media to a more usual PC format

I had tried the HP formatting tool but it doesn't see the drive at all
so will try the hd guru one and report back if it works or not later
