Media player OpenVix

I have OpenVix installed on my Tiviar alpha box since 2017. It has never been updated and runs perfectly.

When I try to play video files that contain the following in their file name, audio only plays with no video: '1080p WEB - DL x265'
It plays other video file types, like mp4 and ones that don't contain 'WEB - DL'.

When I go into plugins, it includes the following: 'multi - transcoding setup'. Is this the app that plays my media files?

Is it possible for me to put VLC media player or another media player that would play all files types on my box and have it as part of OpenVix? If this is possible, how would I go about it?

My technical abilities are not great and I hope I've explained my issue clearly enough! Any advice is greatly appreciated

The chips on the receiver decide which codecs it can support. You could try VLC, so that a software approach is used. However, it seems that you are on a very old image. I think the plugin server for your image version has been deleted. You can try newest images and see how it goes.

That box can only play h264 and you cant put vlc on enigma2. Time for an upgrade to h265.

If I updated to latest version of openvix, would this allow h265 to be played?

It's just I would not be bothered updating otherwise as I have no other issues with the version I have.

Also, if I go into my Tiviar box to do a firmware updates, when I hit software update button, I get a message 'error occurred, please try later' could this be due to having old version of openvix?

I can see your technical abilities are very poor. The box was manufactured with a processing chip, like in a laptop, that can only process video using the H264 codec. So to play h265 you need a chip designed to play h265. You cant upgrade the chip by loading a newer version of an image. its the chip.

And finally if it aint broke dont fix it so keep box as is and your lucky it still works.

Updating to the latest OpenViX image often fixes media player issues, especially with newer codecs. Also double-check that your receiver supports the video format you’re trying to play, as hardware limitations are common. Enabling transcoding can help in some cases.
