[VU+ Duo2] Mixture of DVB-T & DVB-T2 tuners, errors tuning HD channels

This is a mixture of a bug (or more likely a specification error) and a new feature request.

Hardware: VU+ Duo2 with
Tuners A & B: built in dual DVB-S2
Tuner C: built in DVB-T
Tuners D & E: two PCTV 290e (DVB-T2)

The "bug":
On selecting a Terrestrial HD channel an error occurs "cannot tune" as the system attempts to use Tuner C for this task.

Workaround (tested):
Set any other Terrestrial channel to record, then tune to an HD channel. Tuner D is used with no error.

Temporary fix I have put in place:
I have disabled Tuner C from the "Service Scanning" menu. Tuner D is now used as the first Terrestrial tuner for any HD and SD channels with Tuner E in case of watching, streaming or recording more than one thing at a time.

Expected behaviour:
With all tuners enabled and Tuner preference set to "Auto" under "System - Customise". Tuner C is used as preferential tuner for all DVB-T (SD) channels, when requesting a DVB-T2 (HD) channel the system automatically selects Tuner D or E even if tuner C is then unused. The system knows the difference between a DVB-T and a DVB-T2 tuner as this is shown in the Service Scanning options.


Feature request:
User has a similar setup to that described above. User tags pairs of HD & SD channels as "equivalent" using a similar process to "Alternatives". Tagged pairs show as a single channel. User preferences allow the user to define whether HD or SD should be used for a) viewing, b) recording, c) streaming. Where no suitable tuner is available to fulfil the users preference for a given channel at a specific time the system falls back to any quality if a free tuner is available.

try build 008, PLI have done some work in this area, in which i have merged the changes.

Thanks for the quick reply - I gave it a shot this morning but after upgrading from 3.0 to Helios the backup manager can't read in my settings. So I had to downgrade back to the previous image (a big "thanks" to whoever wrote the image backup and restore functions!)

I've now found the few files under /etc/enigma2 which I need to restore to keep my autotimers and bouquets and will give it another go over the weekend and let you know.

Do you by any chance know the details of the improvements in build 008?

vix 3 backup are not compatible with helios you will need to setup manually, of course you can copy timer, autotimer etc just not the setting file etc.

Right, I finally had a few hours with full control of the TV (a real rarity!) ...

I've upgraded to Helios 16 and the system still tries to use the in built Tuner C for all DVB channels, including DVB-T2. so the original issue is still there

I'm hoping that it will fix a number of the stability issues I was finding with the 290e sticks under v3 build 808 and which meant I had to restart enigma each time I wanted to use them. I'll post back in a week or so once I have more experience on that and open a new report if there is a problem.
