Hello again, please see my previous posts regarding my external HDD which I have my movies on. So I'm still struggling with playing standard mp4 files via the duo movie player. The only way I can get the box to see the files is to either transfer the files via VUCC/FTP or convert them on my PC. Even then they are hit and miss either won't start to play- timer comes up but nothing happens or plays with no sound, a few do play fine though. Ideally I'd like to just be able to transfer the files from PC to HDD in mp4 format and just plug and play, but every time I try this the duo wants to format the drive before its mounted! does anyone have a solution as this is a real let down with the duo???? I would play most through my PS3 but it is cinavaia installed. please see the picture of build ect

Box is from wos running vix image latest one as flashed before delivery,had the box for about 3 months. I have tried everything now I think, sending files via ftp, converting files using software to convert to ext3. yes hdd was mounted but to mount the box always formats the drive, to be honest it doing my head in

Going off your screenshot, your build is 3.0 808 that is very old now and has been retired. Best off flashing to new Vix Helios.

Ok reflashed with Helios, just updating everything and wait to see is will play mp4

Hi,
when you talk about MP4 do you mean DivX or VidX? If yes check with the PC tool MediaInfo if GMC or QPEL is set because these encoding options are not supported by a lot of STBs.

Think they will be divx. Format as I haven't seen vidx on them before.

Hi,
you have some files that cannot be played. Get the PC-Tool MediaInfo and open these files with MediaInfo. When you see in the video parameter that GMC or QPEL are used then you have almost no chance that this file will be played by a MIPS STB runing with linux.
