i have a vu +duo box
we was watch the tv when all a sudden it when to a blank screen, and some message flashed up within seconds it was going.
left for a few minutes but picture didnt come back .
so i reboot vu +box up on the led screen on box it says starting.
open pli screen comes on the wheels in the top left corner goes round.
a few seconds later a green screen flashes up that says sorry your stb encountered software promblem, plus aload of over things but goes off too quick to write down,it then return to open pli screen with the date thursday 1 jan 1970 and 1.00 time.
any help would be gratefull as i say iam a novice and dont have a clue how to fix it

Do you want to stay with Openpli image or does it not make too much difference? If not go to openvix.co.uk and use the latest image for the duo 803 I think. Extract the file and put the Vu plus folder on a USB stick. Completely turn off the box and put the usb stick in the port on the Vu duo and switch it on. Hopefully if it works ok, go through the setup wizard. You will no doubt have further questions at this point so post back.

Could be anything from a dodgy skin to the flash being full.
Impossible to tell without seeing a crashlog.
Do you know where your image stores them?

hi judge thanks for the reply ,dont no where image stores them.
as the remote works on the vu duo box as the green light comes on but it wont open any thing up , cant get in to menu ...cant get passed the open pli screen as the wheels in the top right screen are going round as to to say its setting up but cant get passed this.

doesnt make any difference what it use , as long as its easy to set up.

Probably best to do as lgleave22 suggests so & reflash.
If you do want to try out ViX, image & flashing guide can be found on http://openvix.co.uk

If you don't want to flash, you are going to have to ftp into the box & find one of those crashlogs...

got sorted out at last with a lot of help from a friend.
just need to find information on the site about setting up 7 day epg.and double tuner.
