So you'll never see the result anywhere except in that plugin.

Agreed. That's why the logical thing is to retire movieorganisor or make one last change to remove the "new" removal option.

In its day it was very good and I'm guessing when files were saved with the colon it worked as intended but now it doesn't work and, worse than that, the way it works with the new removal option selected is (has) caused confusion and work for everyone.

Will do. Thanks. Maybe Twol can remove the new option for others going forward in movieorganisor also then this will not come up again or..... If there is any interest the removal of the colon could be adapted to replace the colon with another character (like ; or (new)) in the filename logic but that is total overkill for this one unofficial plugin. (obviously). As it's not come up in all these years I'm guessing no one else really uses it anymore anyway (at least not with the "New" removal option set.

Thanks to everyone for helping get to the bottom of the issue. I knew I had seen logging of every change and it wasn't until this thread that it became clear why.

For me - I'd rather stop using the plugin as it has broken logic in it and when it's a bit of code that is fiddling with your precious recordings it's not worth the risk of bigger disasters down the line if it's not actively maintained.

What is the problem with virtual folders?

Hi, One other minor issue with virtual folders. If there is a recording where there was a power outage; the power outage version of teh program (e.g. Part 2) is not merged into the same collection folder as the first part:

Ive removed movieorganisor now and have changed teh settings in the epg to remove "New: " and started to use Automatic Collections, manually renamed all of my old recordings to remove "New " and popped them all back into the root of movie. Removed all of the old empty folders created by movieorganisor....



I will update here if I find any other issues with the "Automatic Collections" if that is okay @Huevos ?.

so - to resurrect an old thread that (possibly) no-one really cares about I have found one very important and useful use for movieorganisor that I did not know before today. I recently purchased the excellent plugin for my Chromecast device called "Dream Player App for Chromecast". It really is a great plugin and a bit of a bargain at about £7 for lifetime. The one than that really lets it down is the recordings list. It does not emulate or have a similar system to the automatic collections so inside the dream player app you just see a flat list of all your recordings.

If one uses Movieorganisor not only do you get a set of folders for the programs on the VIX box but the app on the chromecast also organises them by the same folders. This is a big plus for putting the recordings into folders at the source (openvix).

I have talked to the developer of the app (Christian Fees) and have asked for some sort of collections functionality on the app and he has added it to his list (probably long list) of development requests but, for now, movieorganisor is being resurrected in my household for this reason
