It's only a link showing who the fix came from. It doesn't matter.

Just use the script from putty or manually delete:

/usr/lib/enigma2/python/Components/Converter/Slyk18RemainingToText.pyc

and the py file if it exists.

Is this a one time fix or will I need to do it after every fresh flash?

It is one of KiddaC's converters for all of his skins I think, so probably gets installed with enigma2-plugin-skincomponents-kiddac-shared-skin_1.14_all.ipk.
So yes, you will need to delete it every time you install KiddaC's skins on a clean flash.

Brilliant, THX once again for your assistance, all up and working šŸ‘

Interesting thing. I have OpenVix 6.8.007 and when I got this newer device, I thought all the problems would finally be gone, but it actually seems to have more issues than my old device ever had.

is outputting those debug lines. Since the GB Quad 4K Pro is a satellite/Enigma2 device, DVB drivers are especially suspect.

This fits perfectly into the same overall issue.

The GB Quad 4K Pro has had occasional issues on different images, including:
@KaaS ,

Maybe this will help in the future ? https://github.com/oe-alliance/oe-alliance-core/commit/5bfb45291189b407a874a321545c68dea20c8f5a

I just did a software update and my box gets stuck in a crash loop, Octagon SF8008 with Slyk Onyx 1080 skin, I went to multiboot and it wouldn't find my backups😧 on USB so I did a Network download to a spare slot, this also went into the same crash loop, I had to load an old version I luckily had in a different slot, then restore my backup into slot1, I think I saw in the error message it could not select channel.

It will need to be fixed or removed from the build.

Maybe , not sure why he still doed his own versions.

šŸ–„ Hardware
GigaBlue UHD Quad 4K Pro + OpenVix 6.8.007 & OPenATV 6.8

🧩 Start of the issue
I installed a Sundtek USB DVB-T2 tuner into the device and tested it in two ways (with both OpenViX & OpenATV):
  • only the Sundtek driver (without Control Center)
  • Sundtek Control Center add-on

ā— Onset of symptoms
After both installations, the following issues started:

  • the remote control stopped working
  • Enigma2 entered a ā€œspinner / main thread busyā€ state
  • the user interface became unresponsive
  • OpenWebif stopped working
  • the device got stuck in a boot / recovery state

šŸ”§ Actions taken

  • Sundtek Control Center removed
  • Sundtek driver and processes removed
  • also tested driver-only installation without Control Center (did not fix the issue)
  • /etc/enigma2 settings reset
  • Enigma2 forced to restart multiple times
  • device restored to a backup image

šŸ“‰ Current status
  • Sundtek removed from the system
  • Enigma2 is working again after restore
  • internal DVB-T2 tuner works
  • system is now clean, but the original issue occurred during installations

šŸŽÆ Main problem

The issues started regardless of whether:
  • only the Sundtek driver was used
  • or the Control Center package

Symptoms:
  • Enigma2 UI freezes (spinner / main thread busy)
  • remote control stops responding
  • system may enter a boot/recovery loop

ā“ What I want to find out
  • can the Sundtek USB DVB-T2 driver cause Enigma2 to freeze even without the Control Center
  • is there a compatibility issue with OpenViX / Enigma2 versions
  • does the installation leave behind background processes or device binding conflicts

So you have a gigablue Pro receiver?
What is the tuner configuration? What is attached to the fbc tuners and tuners I/J … are you using the gigablue T2 plugin tuner or ?
Can you provide debug logs for when this happens.
I have Gigablue UHD Quad 4K Pro with Slot1: OpenVix 6.8.009 (now) and Slot2: OpenATV 6.8.

Additional issues occurred with Sundtek, and there are a lot of logs. I will try to clear the logs soon and reproduce the problem again to obtain fresh logs as attachments.

At least the EPGExport has been fixed so that it handles daylight savings properly for anyone else who might use it
I was complaining about off-set and timezones in EPGexport a year ago actually... I think the proper solution would be to have some parameter allowing it either to export in UTC or to export in local time, because not all programs which consume EPG (I use my VU+ box to broadcast satellite tv into my home wifi network and thus I can watch TV on my android phone) can add an off-set on their end, after consuming xml file.

SUNDTEK T2 usb tuner .... I have an old memory that says USB tuners do not work on Gigablue - they (Gigablue) prefer you to buy their tuners.

Maybe others can comment, if not true.

USB tuners stopped working on Gigablue 4K receivers after they changed SDK for their drivers. Their response implied they have no intention of fixing the issue as they do not sell USB tuners

We have a thread on this forum.

Issue on Gigablue github

@sundtek said they had a workaround which could work for their devices. I cant log in to their support chat, so could not try their workaround.
