Hello everyone,

Looking to get a finger into the world of Linux receivers without forking out too much $ in these troubled times I acquired an old Vu+ Solo. After making sure it was original I did a bit of reading and realized that one of the last images that could run decently on this receiver was OpenVix 3.2.037.

Flashing went on without much trouble (second stick I tried worked) and satellite scan on 19.2E worked as expected. With this image the receiver moves decently in the menus and zapping is reasonably fast.

However, despite the network testing OK, I was unable to download any plugin whatsoever, every time I try I get "There has been an error, please try again later"
I also Installed OScam (ipk downloaded here) and it doesn't work, despite being able to connect to it's web interface from my laptop. On he receiver every time I try to access "show readers" in Oscam info I get [Errno 146] connection refused.

Is this a bug or am I missing something very obvious? Please be kind to a beginner, I understand this topic is some 7 years too late :)

Thanks in advance for your help

Very old image and therefore I assume no plugins.
The Vu+ Solo is no longer supported by OpenViX, but it is by openbh - so google their forum and downloads

OK, thank you for the answer. OpenVix 3.2.0 is quite good for this receiver, given it's resources. The problem would be to dig up the plugins I need.

There are only feeds for 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 & 6.0.

Best thing for the Solo would be try an OpenBlackHole build.

Thanks, I was considering to do just that.

However, since I already have the OpenVix 3.2.037 installed I was considering to build a backup image with a few essential plugins installed, so I can easily revert to it if I find that the current Open BH is too much for this old receiver.

What would you recommend to install? Do you know if there are available any drivers for USB DVB-C tuners? Thank you

Also do you have any suggestions for the "show readers" in Oscam info ->> [Errno 146] connection refused problem? I got Oscam to work but I still get this error.

Your choices are:
1) load OpenBH
2) build OpenViX for Solo yourself.

I suppose the reasonable thing to do is to load OpenBH and see if the receiver is still usable with it (due to modest resources by 2022 standards etc).

Still, any suggestions about the reason why I get [Errno 146] connection refused in Oscam info on the receiver menu?

Probably you have the wrong port configured in your Oscam config.

Well, after much fiddling couldn't get the receiver to an usable state with Open BH (way too slow, frequent crashes).

I f someone who still has a few old files for the 3.2.0 openVix could be bothered to give me a hand I'd be quite happy with the old thing.
