I'm not advising it (particularly not without a password set, which it clearly hasn't as there's no WWW-Authenticate header).

That's the point judge is trying to make, there is currently no way to properly password protect these open ports, not via the receiver / enigma 2 any way and it would not make much of a difference if there was.

Once a port is opened it won't be long before its discovered. There are lots of people out there specifically looking for open ports associated with enigma 2 machines for their streaming and transcoding abilities.

AFAIK the Web Server can be set up to require authentication. And all that is being talked about is the Web server - not the streaming port.

Single factor authentication is proving to be a nightmare for Apple, Snapchat, Walmart and lots of others recently.
If those folks can't work out secure connections, what chance do you have on your home network.

Long thread on here over the last few days on one of the worst configured home networks I've seen yet.

In short, if you don't know what you're doing, stay away from opening access to the outside world.

True, but in my view not relevant to the technical problem of why the connexion isn't working.
The connexion isn't working, but should work, so there is something wrong somewhere, and if that somewhere can be tracked down and fixed them some useful information will have been gleened.
Then it can all be switched off.
