So this *might* be expected behavior, or probably partially expected behavior but I reckon there is something happening that probably isn't right...
I had a situation where tunning terrestrial to a different channel (For better reception) messed an auto tuner on the affected channel. (to be expected I guess).
But the possible bug in my mind comes when the autotime tries to fire and start recording what has become a non-existant service. two things happen:
1. it kicks me out of the Satellite channel to try and record the autotimer (No other tuners were being used at the time)
2. as the service is gone it changes to a blank screen
I can recover from there (can't remember the exact way - sorry) but some of the expected methods doidn't work, like you can't go into EPG and choose another channel.
I think I might have arrowed down and it flicked to Dave (which seemed random as it was miles away in the bouquet from the Sat channel I was actually watching E4 )
Flow:
1. set an auto timer up for a terrestrial show.
2. enable service restriction to only find a program match on 1 service (avoid the +1 service)
3. let the autotimer find matches and create timer events
4. change the channel that the service us using
5. remake bouquet to pick up the changes
6. when the next timer event occurs, the problem should happen.
Note:
when you view the details of the auto timer you can see that the service restriction is still enabled, but they service name is now blank.
To be clear.
I don't expect the auto timer to automatically pick up the changes to the channel.
But I do think the handling could be better if:
1. a timer event tries to happen on an un-tuned channel
2. it shouldn't kick you out of the channel you are watching to a blank screen.
I had been wondering why the box looked frozen some mornings if it had been left on over night. At least I know what was causing it now!
Obviously I have a solution - to recreate the autotimers. But there might be some improvement that could be added to the product around the handling of this situation.
