Problem changing LNB Sky+ HD box

I was having problems with my Sky+ HD boxes loosing a signal when it rains heavy, was told it could be the LNB, so I thought I will purchase a new LNB (old one is a 2 out Labgear) I fit a new X2 .4 output LNB ( couldn't get a 2 output) switched both boxes on, both saying not recieving a signal, went into setting and sure enough no signal strengh showing for them both, so put the old one back on, and now this one is showing no signal for both boxes , checked output after selecting a channel getting 17.5v dc .
I have no idea what is going on here, could the new LNB have done any damage to both boxes .
I am stumped don't know what else to check .

Check that the f-plugs are still connected properly. Both ends on all cables.

Losing a signal during rain could also mean that your dish has moved slightly. If the mounts are loose you may have knocked it off focus when installing the new LNB. Abu's suggestion re the F-plugs is a likely cause also. Make sure that there are no shorts between the braid and the central conductor in the cable. Even a single wisp of the braid can cause issues. Also, water penetration of the cable will cause signal loss.

Or you moved the dish out of alignment when you changed the LNB.
