I have tried everything but not sure if this is possible.

I have a 1TB usb hard drive attached and want to use this device for timeshift recordings but use the internal 2TB disk for all other recordings (epg, timer etc).

Is this possible using ViX image or is it a hardware limitation to be only able to use either the internal or usb drive but not both?

Perfectly possible...

Make sure u have everything mounted, and then go to menu, setup, system, recording locations & change the timeshift one to your usb.

Personally tho, i would say a 1tb hdd is a bit overkill... 20-30gb is plenty for permanent timeshift... ;)

I have checked the usb drive is mounted
/media/usb3

I then check Setup->System->Recording paths
Default movie /hdd/movie/
Timer record <Default movie location>
Instant record <Default movie location>
Timeshift /hdd/Timeshift/

When i try to change Instant record it only gives the following options
Current movielist location
Last timer location
/hdd/movie/

If i try change Timeshift i can only do something by pressing ok (not left/right arrows) but then brings up a screen where i can't change anything

where do i select usb device?

Thanks,
Clavas

Do the following: -

Menu > Setup >system > Recording Paths > Highlight Timeshift Location > Press ok > Press Menu to access file browser above > Highlight the location you want to save as a bookmark and save. Now you should be able to choose that location.

Or, instead of having to press the menu button to access the file browser, you can just press the channel +/- button ;)

This worked a treat.

Now have instant record and timeshift record to usb drive and epg/timer record to internal drive.

Thanks all :beer_toast:
