[VU+ Solo2] Softcam issue?

All those filepush commits were reverted and are not in the image. (Maybe I made a mistake including commits a day either side.)

.... I wondered about filepush for a long while, not finding it in history until I realised it had been reverted.

Is there ever a chance that such long winded commits might not be totally reverted?

From memory, Huevos rolled everything back to a specific commit removing any in between commit and history from Git.
The python3 branch has exactly the same revert.

Yes, it looks absolutely fine to me, I just wondered if there was the slightest chance that revert didn't quite do everything expected of it.

What makes you think that?

What makes you think that?

Because no one has come up with anything else, something very subtle has happened, and "the slightest chance" was just pure speculation.

I've even looked to see if there are any .py files lying around which shouldn't be there, but I haven't found any.

Hi,

Has the problem been resolved?
After I reinstalled 5.4.13 on a VU+ Duo2 my Oscam-latest keep shutting dow while watching.

Thanks,
G

see post #183

Good, there is a workaround... ( sorry,I didn't read all the thread as before the upgrade I didn't have the problem)

To be consistent with other init files I did something a little different.

created with vi the file /etc/init.d/softcam.sh
made it executable with chmod +x
made a soft link in /var/etc/rcS.d to S56softcam.sh
disable startup, reboot and it works.

If a restart is needed I'd rather have a cron job that test if it is running and restart it instead of a full reboot that could disrupt a recording.

Thanks,
G

I did the same,

created with vi the file /etc/init.d/softcam.sh
made it executable with chmod +x
made a soft link in /var/etc/rcS.d to S56softcam.sh
disable startup, reboot. But although Oscam started, it did not work as it was looking for DVBapi, and could also not resolve DNS names (yet), so I changed the filename to S68softcam.sh and this starts it later in the stack and now works fine after a reboot

Has 5.4.016 solved this problem? Just tried using script and softcam manager and both seem to be working the same. Can anyone else confirm?

Same as what? They both work properly... or don't work properly?

They both work properly. No very high ecm. Not from my quick test anyway.

I spoke too soon regarding it seemed to be working ok. It wasn't. But disappointing that it has also not been fixed in 6.0.001!

So the Oscams built are now the same across all the images.
You have 3 start choices in 6.0:
1. Use the SoftcamManager
2. disable SoftcamManager and run the script like OpenPli/OpenATV ...menu/setup/softcamscript .... make sure you have config directory in /etc/tuxbox/config with the correct configs for that Oscam e.g. oscam-latest or oscam-emu
3. run your own script to start Oscam from init.d

Using softcam manager consatnt freezing, high ecm, using script from earlier posts all works fine. But would be nice to to able to use softcam manager as easier to restart from there as opposed to having to restart from webif uif using the script.
