It installed ok for me when I tried the
Code:
opkg install transmission
command, but had the same 403: Forbidden Unauthorized IP Address. After a bit of googling I found the same issue with a debian linux build. You need to update the transmission-daemon json.settings file:

Code:
--stop transmission before making changes
/etc/init.d/transmission stop

--edit the settings file (theres a few copies of this so make sure its the daemon file)
vi /var/lib/transmission-daemon/settings.json

check + change following parameters:

"rpc-enabled": true,
"rpc-whitelist": "*.*.*.*",
"rpc-whitelist-enabled": false,

--start transmission to pickup new settings
/etc/init.d/transmission start

Hi im hoping you could help me. i too am trying to use transmission on my receiver however when i get to this part i get stuck

Code:
--edit the settings file (theres a few copies of this so make sure its the daemon file)
vi /var/lib/transmission-daemon/settings.json

i cannot find the following

Code:
"rpc-enabled": true,
"rpc-whitelist": "*.*.*.*",
"rpc-whitelist-enabled": false,

this is all i get:

Code:
root@gbquad:~# vi /var/lib/transmission-daemon/settings.json

    "alt-speed-enabled": false,

EDIT: actually Ive found what i need to edit however im not very experienced with telnet and dont know a lot about it, once Ive changed what i need to how do i safe it. also u wrote:

"rpc-whitelist": "*.*.*.*",

can i ask what i should be changing the '*' too? should it be the ip address of the box or something and if so, my ip address changes regularly

also struggling with transmission on the solo2 (helios build 10)

anyone found an easy workaround?

Hi,
what do you see when you install it via telnet? Missing dependencies for libcrypto and libssl? If so try installing with --force-depends.

ciao

The variables should be set to exactly as nosnikrap78 said, the * just means it will accept any numeric value.

"rpc-enabled": true,
"rpc-whitelist": "*.*.*.*",
"rpc-whitelist-enabled": false,

It's not Telnet you need to familiarise yourself with in this instance as you have established the connection to your stb and managed to open the settings.json in the Vi editor. I suggest you search for 'how to use the vi editor' in google and try the first hit, that explains everything (its different to your standard windows text editors).

Anyway the commands you ask for are:

CLOSING AND SAVING A FILE

ZZ save file and then quit
:w save file
:q! discard changes and quit file

Hi, 'opkg install transmission' works great but we get no start/stop GUI in plugins..

Has anyone got an old backup of the start/stop ?GUI for transmission that is located somewhere in /usr/lib/enigma2/python/PluginsExtensions/

This way we can have the GUI back too :)
