Hey guys

Hoping some of you guys can shed any light on this subject as I am a little unsure.

How does this work? .... is 2x lan over coax boxes connect ethernet cable from router and coaxial cable one box then at the other end of coaxial cable run connect to 2nd lan over coax box and ethernet cable into satellite box??

So basically instead of running ethernet cable the full run I could use a dormant coaxial cable?

Wheres best and cheapest place to get this product?

Reason I am looking at this is I dont have space in 22.5mm pvc pipe buried in wall to run ethernet cable otherwise I would do the option and the fact is the wireless connection is a bit flaky when trying to stream from one to another.

Of course I am open to other suggestions, so If you have any please send them this way lol

Cheers

It seems this is possible but very expensive

why dont you use the spare coax to full threw a rj45 lead? then you can use some powerline adaptors

Not looked at using coax networking for many years, since I was at uni... Many a fun time spent dragging out the network cable across the uni halls to have a few games of worms networked (unfortunately, not all uni rooms were networked up at that point!!! lol)

Anyway, iirc, it's only 10 mbit connection via coax, and you would need to get the coax network adapter to fit in the pc...

Would be cheaper, and better off using powerlines as suggested above. Got the 500mbit (PLA4225) variation with switch on for about £45 each:

These are gigabit between everything that's connected to the switch, and 500mbit between the switches...

Was looking at powerline switches aswell onlything putting me off these is the bulkyness of them but then again Am gonna end end witha box at satelite box.

mmm I will have further looking into the powerline switches

Currently, I have 3 powerline plugs. 1 switch in living room, 1 switch in study room, and 1 pass through adapter in bedroom.

In living room, the switch is behind the tv, so it is only seen at certain angles and generally out of sight. Study room, it's between desk and wall, so can only see it if looking t side of desk. In bedroom, it's behind a chest of drawers, so don't see it...

i.e. if you can, then hide them, and you won't see em :)

There is actually quite a lot of hardware supporting LAN over coax. See e.g.
Code:

but that's just one example. But: all very expensive .....
