What connection, to the vu duo, problems did you face and how did you sort them ?

How to use your own router with a Virgin media Hub/Superhub

Ok as i also had problems with the wifi side of things with this piece of crap I decided to use my own router and just use the hub as a modem. This has given me a much better wifi connection all over the house.

So here's how.

1. Plug your router’s WAN port into any of the LAN ports on the Hub/Superhub.

2. Plug your PC into any Hub/Superhub LAN port and access the management page by entering 192.168.0.1 into your web browser.

3. Login to the Hub/Superhub the username/password details are on a sticker underneath or on the side of your hub.

4. On the LAN IP page examine the DHCP lease info; you should see your PC and the second router listed, make a note of the MAC address of the router and add it to the DHCP reservation section and give the second router an IP address of 192.168.0.10.

5. Now go to the DMZ host page on the Hub/Superhub and enter the same IP address of the second router (e.g. 192.168.0.10).

6. Turn off the Hub/Superhub wireless functionality and firewall as this will let your second router provide it instead.

7. Reboot the second router by powering it off wait at least 60 seconds before powering back on again.

8. Plug your PC into the second router, login to the second router and set the following :

In router’s WAN setup for "Does your Internet connection require a login" set to NO, (this may also be known as Internet Connection type - "Automatic Configuration - DHCP" as it varies from router to router) and then you should see the WAN or internet as 192.168.0.10.

Connect your wired devices to the second router reboot once more and you should be good to go.

Hi mates

Just had my superhub installed what a pain it wouldnt find my vu duo/solo static Ip's at first so i had to dchp the connection to get it to see them both also network finding and name server was a problem so had to allow the two virgin default ones to load.. boxes are now online and seem to be working ok fingers crossed hey?

had the same problem for nearly a week, switching DCHP worked a treat, thanks

I had the super hub with my router, for over a year (60MB), and the service has been excellent, and speeds as advised. Although as most people know the speeds are mainly govern at the other connection. So for majority of connections it is less than 4MB. A bit like owning a F1 car and using it on the M25. Although it comes into its own with a number of people sharing the connection.
