However, the Multiboot selection in OpenATV indicates version 6.8.007

and Multiboot selection in OpenViX indicates version 6.7.015

so just to be certain did you online image flash or software update ??
When in OpenViX image can you open telnet session and post results from cat /etc/issue and cat /usr/lib/enigma.info or copy to PC and post contents
Both feeds and python version would indicate this is 6.7
