[ET9x00] ViX Team ET9x00 Image v2.3 -07/12/2011

It's the safety blanket --- haha.... I will take the plunge later and update to 2.3 then...

Do I have to rescan all the sats again.,.,??

no just use DBE to dump your existing bouquet from the box then load it back once setup.

Hi flashed Image and boot loader no problem. Can I ask where do I setup my hard disk again, it picks up USB no problem but not my internal drive. Are all my recording gone on hard disk. I flashed straight and restored no settings or auto timers .

Ps very fast image thanks for doing great job..

changed hard disk in box and that fixed issue . Needed to upgrade anyway . Love the new skin by the way.

yes everything from scratch mate

but if yr using channel settings then scanning is not generally needed

This will seem a stupid question this to those who know, but when flashing the with the new bootloader - How do you do it?

I have copied the ET9000-bootloader folder to the root of my pen drive and restarted the STB but nothing flashed on to say bootloader upgrade or whatever? Is that the right folder or is it the one inside ET9000 or _Maxosx ??

Well sorted it --- A really important bit this, and something that I think should go on the first page with the initial post.

You must use a pendrive that is formatted in FAT32 not NTFS (as mine was). Once I formatted it to FAT32 it was easy and very straighforward. Newbies or non techno people like me dont know that sort of thing.

New image on the machine, love the new skin with the info on the bar (Tuner A/B is very good). Just need to set it up right as it is a bit off to the left.

I talked to ClarkeTech Tech-Manager & was provided with the solution ,,, I downgraded the bootloader to ET9000 and flash an Egami-1.3 for the test,
Interesting so there is no problem reverting the bootloader, in case of problems ?
Can you please tell us how you reverted to an older bootloader, as I thought that was not possible.
Or is there a guide somewhere I have missed ?

The new image is working great!!!! Like it a lot!!! Stable - quick - better scrolling of the EPG -

Problem with skin et9000-ultraLight r1-6 and new image VIX 2.3.133 ET900

Hello,
The new image was an excellent work for the development team, is working great, Bravo !!!
I need your help to solve a problem, when I try to make the same setup configuration with the previous ET9000 version 2.2.100 VIX image, after installation the skin et9000HD-UltraLight-r1-6 install from that topic http://www.world-of satellite.com/showthread.php?8953-et9000HD-UltraLight-r1-6 , when I try to restart my emulators ( cccam and Mgcamd) or I try to set up the basics for EPG, I have had many crashes, for your info I try to upload two(2) off them. If any of your team was provided a solution I appreciate for them.

Thank you for Vix 2.3 I am enjoying the new features on my ET9000.

With Vix 2.2 I was able to create a swap file on my USB stick or on my hdd. With 2.3.133 I only have the option of the hdd. Should the USB stick also be available?

With the Webbrowser is their a way to add bookmarks - and delete some of the existing ones?

I have also been unable to create an image backup as mentioned in another thread, and I have also sent a crash log which I think occurred when a recording ended.

The USB stick is also available for SWAP: check your mountmanager if the stick is mounted (should be) and if it has Ext3/4 as format.
But: are you sure you want to use a swap-file? There can hardly be any need for it, and it for sure slows down your box.

I have found a problem in ViX 2.3.

When i am recording a tv channel and the recording isnt finished yet. The box will lock-up as soon as i press mediaplayer in the menu. I see the folders but i can select them and the box will be stuck in that mediaplayer folder window. The channel recording will finish and work 100%. And when the recording is finished the box becomes available again. I never had this issue before.

The reproduce add timer, press menu select mediaplayer ( when recording is started).

Thanks, the stick is Vfat so that explains that!

Is there an easy way to tell if I need a swap file? I quite accept that I don't know if I really need one. I was assuming that it would only get used if it was really needed - but maybe that is not the case.

I do now see that the total flash memory is 291524, and that only 4364 is free, so I am using nearly all my flash memory!

Does the ET9000 have separate 'processor' memory and if so can I tell how much is being used?

Just assume you don't need SWAP.
Contradictory to Windows Linux has an intelligent memory management: it uses (almost) all available memory (memory not used is memory spoiled). As long as no spontaneous enigma restarts occur everything is fine.

Thanks, I don't suppose you can advise on why I can't create a backup image with image manager. The backup process runs as far as 60% and then fails with a timeout error. If I could run the process in a diagnostic mode I could perhaps help diagnose what is going wrong.

you can enable the debug logs function within the logs menu and see what out put that generates while trying to create a backup.

sorry i'm at work rite now and not near my box and i cant remember the exact menu layout to get to the correct place to activate the debug log options, but i'm sure you can find it.

Thanks, I 'Enabled Debug log' and 'create more detailed crash log' but I don't appear to get any output.:(

the logs can be viewed by blue button and log manager or ftp and root/home path.

Would a log file definitely be written? I have several crash log files but nothing from the image backup (that I have found so far).
