[VU+ Duo] New VIX Image Vu+ Duo Version 2.4 15/05/2012 - DISCUSSION ONLY -

Ok mates, I've some good news and other not.
About the issues summarized on my post in this discussion here #330 I've found a solution to the OpenVPN issue.

For people who would like to check it I've written explanation in a sort of guide in the the thread "Help-with-OpenVPN the direct link is the following: #10.

Besides that I still suffer for the issues described at here #330 for
Network Browser not working
A867 installation not working

since I would like to contribute with my feedbacks and test to vix development I just need directions from you developers about what to check and how.
I'm here for you.

Do I understand you correctly: you are on build 130 and the box tells you that updates are available?
If so: that's correct, because version 135 is online.
I don't know the reason why you don't want to update, but it is fairly safe to do so. The image is online for several days now, and no serious problems have been reported.

try doing your update by a tellnet session using the command

opkg update && opkg upgrade

followed by the command

shutdown -r now

once the update is complete.

I'd just cut your losses and do a fresh flash directly to 2.4-135

Hello, could somebody help me please. I have just updated to 2.4 and I'm having a couple of problems. First is the menu on the skins no longer fit my screen properly, it is missing some of it to the left, top and bottom, the actual tv picture seems fine, I tried changing some of the settings a/v settings but it is still the same, I have also tried some different skins and have the same issue.

Less importantly, I don't seem to have the media player option in my menu any more, the drives are still mounted but nothing there?

Cheers

Menu> system> setup> OSD to adjust your On screen display.

now as for the media player we removed the old one as it has not been maintained nor updated for years, there is however a more powerful one integrated directly into the image it self which can be accessed directly via the list button ( button to the right hand side of the menu button ).

Your TV is using overscan, you need to switch it off.

As for the media player what do you mean its not in the menu anymore ? Do you mean filelist ?

old old media player was removed in 2.3 so if he or she moved from a earlier image say 2.2 then that could account for them not being able to find the menu entry for the media player.

The feeds are down while andy uploads the new 2.4-143 images, please bear with us as all the image have to uploaded one by one and andy has a very slow connection.

Seems to be a veeeeery slow connection :) Why needs the feed content be changed? Thought this is a minor update of the vix image?

the feeds need to be taken off line so that people can not attempt a update mid way through with a incomplete image, dont worry they will be back soon.

Ok, I upgraded to 2.4 this morning and need to install all the plugins :) Thanks for your hard work, the image seems to be really stable.

the feeds are now fully back online so you should be good to go.

That's the very best indeed: overscan ruins the picture quality.

About Overscan:
On my Samsung PS-37s4a1 (plasma) only by accessing service menu I can go to picture improve/picture size.
There I found:
H START OFFSET = 0
V START OFFSET = 0
H END OFFSET = 0
V END OFFSET = 0
OVERSCAN B = 0
OVERSCAN G = 0
OVERSCAN R = 0

the offset settings can be set only to positive values.
But what should this value be?

And just for curiosity what the hell are RGB overscan settings for?
