[VU+ Duo] New VIX Image Vu+ Duo Version 2.4 15/05/2012 - DISCUSSION ONLY -

Hi

I recently purchased a VU+ Duo with Vix 2.4 from WOS. I've been trying to install a Cccam for the last week and have completely failed. I've even had friends over to try and get the Ccam on but with no luck what-so-ever! I'm a complete newbie to this (fist time I ever with a PVR) and have been reading the Vix forum here and also on Digital Kaos but am now so confused, I really don't know where to go.

I know it is probably a simple issue to resolve but I've got to the point now where I want to start throwing things at the TV!

Anyway, I hope you may be able to help me or point me in the direction of someone who might if you can't. I'm so frustrated !!!

Hope to hear from you soon. If its easier to call, my number is xxxxxxxxxxxx.

Thanks

Nasser

Which cam are you trying to install?
VIX compatible cams are here:

First of all i have removed your phone number from your post, This is for your own safety.

now as for CCcam as stated above you need to use one from the 4shared archive, 2.2-1 should work fine for you.

download the cam you need and FTP the .ipk file to the /TMP directory on your receiver.
now on your receiver navigate to the following. Blue button > ViX> install local extension. you should see the cam there ready to install. once it has been installed you will need to FTP your CCcam.cfg file to the /ETC directory and turn the cam on on via the blue button > softcam manager.

hi i am thinking of flashing to this image but first a couple of questions do i need to remove my rear usb drive? will i lose my downloaded plugins? will i lose my user bouquets? and ccam? so basically does it take the box back to original like reloading windows back onto a pc for example?
cheers

Yes to all your questions - Remove rear usb, You can backup your user bouquets to your PC using DreamBox Edit and send them back afterwards, CCcam will need to be reinstalled manually, if you are unsure write down your tuner configuration before the flash.
You will need to update the bootloader first unless you are coming from Vix 2.3 or higher

thanks maxwell that was quick i have kernel 3.1.1 on my image version so does that mean i wont have to use the bootloader?
regards

yes but double check by going to menu>information>about and check the version and build number.
If you are on 2.3 or lower DO NOT restore a settings backup if you have one

thanks im on 2.3 build 204 my drivers are 2012-01-18 does this mean i dont need the bootloader? and the drivers will be update via the new image?also when updating do i do both bootloader if needed and image by using the switch on the back of the duo?
thanks

Yes you already have the latest bootloader and the drivers will be included in the later images.

Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk 2

You dont need to do the bootloader as it will already have been done to run 2.3 and yes the drivers will be updated with the new image.

just done not so painless just loading things back on now looks nice so far.

you can get CCCam from the link above,

ftp it to your temp folder on the unit
press blue buuton, select VIX, then install locaol ext...you should then see the cccam select it hit ok
