[VU+ Duo] New ViX Team VU+ Duo OE3.0 Discussion

Just flashed 3.0.268 and set basic settings with wizard. Haven't done scan or uploaded any bouquets or installed any plugins. Have unplugged usb stick and hard reset box after 10 sec power off.
Now when I press recorded list button next to menu on remote control, I get /hdd/movie with nothing appearing and 64Kb (100%) free (I presume this is flash memory). If I press yellow button for location I get path that refers back to flash (whilst typing I tried deleting bookmark and box crashed). Before the crash I did try menu/system/hard disk/initialisation and hard is showing. As far as I know if I initialise, it will delete everything, so not doing that.

I think I tried that. Just managed to fix probs with 2.4 and done a fresh backup. Other half gone to bed so gonna give the 3 build another go. Will try that solution and post. Thanks.

How do I do that please as I have never had to do before. I can see the drive in information tab and network mounts tab, but no local mount.

it will search for hard drives etc

and once selected,..select mount,

i think the unit will then reboot

after that,..you should be able to use the hard drive, and see your previous recording

Have downloaded 5 crash logs if I can send them on and going back to 2.4 for the while as exchanging drives with PC and tranferring recordings will be labourious. Thanks basilyoung and judge.

Upload the crashlogs here, might help us to spot the issue.

Thanks for the logs, when using the default VIX skin, do you get the same crash?

Umm, don't know. Didn't try as night HD skin seems to come up by iteslf anyway. Already in bother about spending ages without working box, so have to revert to 2.4 before bed. Will give it a go tomorrow and let you know, if that is OK? Thanks.

Switching skin should be a lot faster & easier than reverting to a previous image.
Not suggesting it's a skin issue, but would be good to rule it out.
Let us know when you update again & if you have the same issues.

All 5 crashlogs show that ViV-HD Night has been used; and I don't see any skin-issues in them.
However: it looks like just about every button push leads to a crash.
I can't really help out, as 268 is a stable, good working build.
You didn't restore any settings from a previous build, did you?
The only very vague suggestion I have is to download the image again and reflash.

Tried the latest upgrade today (282?), but it stranded during the reboot. Vu+ in the display, and the blue picture on the TV. The spinning vix looped for about 5-10 times, before the blue picture was stuck on the screen. No response to the remote, so I had to power off/on, and load my latest backup from USB, which is 249.

Got caught out with that as well, can the 282 build be pulled from the updates, so no one else downloads it.

Used the problem, to test installation from USB, not had to do it before. Could the backup/restore of settings include /var/keys ?

the feeds are currently set as unstable, so if you deselect the use unstable updates option in the image, you wont be notified of or be able to use unstable updates until the feeds are again set to stable.

But that's a bit of a catch 22 situation, if everybody sets it to stable, then no-one will download and test the new build, so you won't find any problems. In a situation like build 282 which is know to cause problems, if the release is pulled then it stops other testers falling into the same fault.

Don't mind myself, as i know enough to get around it.

you can configure settings backup to backup any file/directory you want. Press menu in the backup manager I think.

Thats the choice we give people. either wait for stale builds or use unstable ones at your own risk. This is also why we say make backups just incase.

just to let you guys know. I performed an update today (unstable update). after a reboot I get the openVix background and nothing else. anything you guys want me to get off it before a reflash ?

The only thing I did was remove the auto boquet plugin before an update, as I read somewhere in the updates that the autoboquet plug-in was included in the core image..

yeah thanks for letting us know, were already aware of the issue though. the current image (282) is locked in a bootloop, there is a temporary fix uploaded by rob van der does but it would be a better idea to just flash back to 268 and not update again until we make a announcement that it's fixed etc.

I've not been able to download images from Image Manager for while now, since V3.0 I think. When I pick the image that I want to download and press green I get this message pop up on screen but it does download an empty folder. I'm not sure what's wrong as it used to work fine on V2.4, any ideas?

I'm just bumping my post from a couple of days ago, i hope no one minds. I'd love to download build 268 but I keep getting the problem outlined above. anyone any ideas?
