Hi guys, whenever I go to do a software update, I go through the usual backup and then it will move on to 'Upgrade in progress, you vu+ duo will reboot in a few minutes' or similar. The issue is that the reboot never occurs. I thought this issue would perhaps be resolved by reflashing from a newer version on the feeds but I just now tried to upgrade again and the same thing occurs.

depending on the plugins installed etc it can take any where from five to twenty minutes for this stage to complete.

you could try a update via a telnet session, which would also produce a on screen ( pc screen ) readout incase of errors etc.

Update: I removed my picons and the update goes through successfully

That would b emy suggestion: updating them takes indeed very long. So don't worry when doing an update: your 'never occurs' should be read as 'takes a long time'.
Just be patient!

Agreed ! mine takes around 15 minutes including picons on my Ultimo.:eek:
Without ever having clocked it I do believe that.

I work around that a bit: every now and then I inform myself via telnet by
Code:
opkg update && opkg list-upgradable
and when I find the picons to be the only update I do update (while continuing to use the box for playback or life-TV) by
Code:
opkg upgrade
Now the picons are being updated without any problems or time waist.

I know other people who de-install the picons, then do the update via the GUI and install the picons again.

that will not update picons if they have been installed on USB or HDD ;)

Yeah, I should have mentioned that.
Maybe because I never understood why one would want to have them on a separate device :confused:
