Tune failed problem

Hello all, sorry for long post

Bought a Solo2 a week ago from WoS, and have the following setup:

2 x fixed dishes (1 x 28.2 Dish, 1 x 13E,16E,19E dish with 3 lnb)
1 x 4 port disecq

Setup: Simple a/b/c/d each on their port.

The setup has been working like this for last 4y on DM8000.

Now since i put the Solo2 to work, I am having constant signal loss. The channels work 1-2h then when I change the channel the signal is 0% and tune failed or sid can not be found. A Enigma restart brings back everything. This is happening for all 4 sats, so its not a single sat problem.

I have tried all images, VIX, BH, PLI, all the same. Have the newest sat.xml, but sat.xml is not the problem since when it works all channels and satellites are working and signal is much better then with DM8000 that I had. So I am not losing single channels, but all the sats. All cables are fine. Tried both A and B ports, same.

I have played around with LNB, send disecq power etc, but honestly there is nothing to be done there as I have no motors. When I scan satellites I find all channels, no prob there.

Tenda Wireless W150 that I bought with it, works nicely too.

I read on some forums that clones have same problems after some time with tunner timeout, since mine is original, I am not finding any solution.

Can the both tuners be at fault?The weird thing is that this problem happens only when changing channels after some time, say yesterday I watched Wimbledon 3-4h without changing channels, it worked fine, then next channel when I change, there is no signal on any channel.

Connecting my DM8000 back, works without problems.

And since I have taken the box with me in Europe, I can not return it, and I'd rather buy a USB DVB tunner and have it brought to me by some friend who is traveling from UK soon, then return the box for service in UK.

Any help would be appreciated

Welcome to the forum.

You have only one diseqc switch. Have you set both tuners identically?

I am assuming you have a cable from the 28.2 to one of the tuners and one from the switch to the other tuner. If so, both cannot be the same. The 28.2 only has to be Simple, Single, 28.2.

Hi mate, I have all LNB's in one 4 port disecq and a single cable to the box, so only 1 cable is used.

Could you confirm the tuner config for the one with no cable attached?

It could be that the solo2 just does not like the diseqc switch as not all receivers work with all switches. You could try a different brand of switch to rule that out.

I can not try it with single cable as both dishes on my roof connect to the diseqc switch which is on the roof and a single cable runs to the living room.

I read your post as you have set both tuners the same. However, only one has a cable connected. This means your receivere is trying to use a tuner which has nothing connected, hence the tune failed issue. You need to setup the tuner with no cable as "not configured" or "loop through". Please correct me I have misunderstood what you have written.

Then I would advide to use 'Loopthrough'; at least then you use all options you have.
For the Solo2 this means you have to connect the coax to Tuner B and set tuner A to loopthrough.

Hi back,

No, I have only the Port A configured since I only have one cable going to diseqc. Port B is unconfigured. Sorry if i confused any one. Thought I have tried both ports A and B separately and same issue.

I swapped the old diseqc switch (Opticum) with a Technomate, no luck, thought I lost half of the SNR, so this Technomate diseqc is worst then old one.

The problem seems to be when changing channels in different satellites, say watching 28.2E then switching to 13E not working, then back to 28.2E not working again. Enigma restart fixes it.

I found in the forum here someone having some of the same issues but with channels and installed Vix 3.0.632 and seems to have helped. I'm downloading now and will install and see. Otherwise I will get another diseqc switch tomorrow.

Dont get mixed up between tuners a/b and diseqc ports a/b/c/d.

Connect coax to tuner a. Set as diseqc abcd and populate according to inputs on switch.

I suggest:
1- Connect feed to Tuner B;
2- Set tuner A to Loopthrough
3- In tuner B settings: voltage = high

Yes as Rob says connect the coax to Tuner B. I repeat tuner B. Then set tuner A to loop-through. This is opposite to the intuitive way but it is the way it works.

I will try to find another diseqc switch today of different brand and see how it goes. Just tested DM8000 its working with no problems.

If all fails, can someone recommend me a USB satellite tunner?

You have set the 'increased voltage' to 'Yes' as I suggested?
You can also see if 'Repeat sequence = Yes' might do the trick.

If all fails, can someone recommend me a USB satellite tunner?

First of all: why have a good twintuner box and than not use it
And secondly: an USB-tuner is never a good option.
You really should fix the problem and not try to work around it.

I did not see the increased voltage in simple mode a/b/c/d, just 22kHz I think and send diceqc only on satellite change? Or should I set the tunner B to some other mode and not simple? Tunner A is in looptrhough.

I don't like USB tunners either, but I have not way of sending the box back to UK, as courier charges would be more then 120 euro.

I am at work, so I will check after 5pm again when back home.

Indeed: use the 'advanced' mode'.
And I don't believe your box is faulty (although that is of course possible); first use all the advice you get here.

Update Update

After trying 4 different Diseqc switches, finally its working. A certain Chess Diseqc 4 port is working as it should Simple a/b/c/d without any further configuration.

I've tried Opticum, Technomate, StarGold and finally this supposedly german Chess switch has proven to work nicely.
