Hi rossi
Do you know if the edits are for this problem or just edits in general?..Do we have to wait for the next release to test?
Cheers

some of the edits i have no idea what they are, they could be related, they might not be
some of the edits i can see there to do with wifi.

So 5 at the same time? and all though the day? Was this for testing or do you generally record that much?
Same as me with my tests, 5 or 6 seems to push it over the edge......
Why would that be 'pushing'. Any box should be perfectly capable of that. And happens quite often here.

Same as me with my tests, 5 or 6 seems to push it over the edge...I had 5 sd recordings through the night, no reboots, added a 6th in the morning (hd) and rebooted straight away....and had 3 sd recordings running all through last night and no reboots.....for me this is excessive as i only record the odd film here and there...so this image is working 'normally' for me but i know it's not perfect as per the tests i have done...but you have to admit that 4.2 is much more stable...the others i was getting reboots regularly even without recording..Let us know how you get on with Apollo19 but i think you will be back to 4.2

That's a normal recording schedule, but to be clear that was not all together rather than one programme after another, I haven't got that many tuners!:) One of the reasons for going back to an old version was just to see if it is the later versions that are causing the problems and I prefer the Vix interface. So hopefully the Vix new Apollo will have everything fixed but I won't be trying it until nobody reports any major issues.

Yes i agree with you, any box should be capable of that
I say it because that is exactly what it is doing with this problem we are having..Any more than 5 or 6 recordings together seems to push it over the edge and reboots..that is on the openmips 4.2
On the vix image, i can't even do that, 1 recording reboots the box after a while or even just watching tv or going through the menus will reboot the box

Thats strange that you are getting reboots after 1 recording
I did another test last night, recorded 6 sd channels from 1am all through the night until 9am this morning and no reboots..Were you recording hd channels? The only issue i have had is when i have added a hd channel to the batch of recordings or switched over to a hd channel to watch when recording several channels then i got a reboot
I went all the way back to 003 (twice) as per advice from Scicilian previous in this thread but that was the same as the newer builds
I'll do another test tonight but with a mixture of sd and hd channels

So I see 032 is out. Who is going to trial it first? I suppose it has to be done. Easy to revert again.

Well I've been running 032 for about an hour now and for the last 10 minutes I've been running 9 (nine!) recordings simultaneously - 5 of them HD - without problems so far.

My experience of reboots hasn't been as predictable as others but I've certainly had my fair share of them over the past week or so - always when the temp marker reaches 99 or so. Without the temperature figure it's difficult to tell but it seems to be OK.

Sounds promising
Haven't been in long so i'll try it tomorrow

In the end i gave 032 a go, no good for me
As soon as i scanned in channels went in the menu and pressed on plugins and rebooted..Tested 4 recordings 2 sd and 2 hd and rebooted within 30 seconds..Back to openmips 4.2 for me

One recording started and another on playback. Recording failed after 3 mins and rebooted. Will try some more today and will revert back to 019 again if needed.

It was for the brief time I had it on. I have a load of recordings in today, so see how they get one before I ditch 032. We will soon have this thread breaking the 200 barrier!

This thread is just getting no where.

Users still having issues do exactly as follows: -

1) Re-flash this bootloader
Code:
http://image.openmips.com/4.2-DEV/loader/gigablue_bootloader_gbquad_20140724.zip

2) Re-flash and setup fresh build 032 http://www.openvix.co.uk/index.php?dir=GiGaBlue-HD-QUAD/
3) Directly after completing the startup wizard re-initialise your HDD.
4) Reboot by holding down standby button and carry on setting up your receiver.

Do not install ANY extra plugins or re-store ANY backups, test on free to air channels recording.

If you still have issues contact where you purchased.

Thanks Scilian, will give that a try and see if that refreshes the box succesfully.

Stef has tested my Quad with ViX Build 032 for 22 hrs recording 6HD and 1SD simultaneously with zero problems

Aren't you the lucky one :-) Hopefully after Sicilian's comment my box and I suppose many more people's boxes will be happy again.

.

Ah i think it is, it gives us chance to tell our problems/experiences/test etc
Anyway did exactly what you said, and still the same, tried it twice to make sure and more reboots
Do i have a dodgy receiver? i don't know...All i know i had no problems before the updates...Why does openmips 4.2 work better for me (still not perfect) again i do not know
How many other quad users are having the same problem, again i do not know, (only the other few that have reported on here)
I'll get back to the supplier where i bought it from who will in turn perhaps will speak to Gigablue, and if they are as slow as people say they are then i don't hold up much hope...I'll have to stay with openmips 4.2 for the time being or if i want to use another image stick a laptop cooler under it's arse or put the air conditioning on!
Anyway thanks everyone for all their help..Much appreciated

Three recordings looked fine 2 HD and 1 SD but on playback of one of them, pressed the numeric key to FF and it immediately rebooted. Looks like back to 019 or Openmips 4.2 until this situation is finally resolved. That was with a completely fresh install with no backup settings re-loaded.

Well after an encouraging start mine has been intermittently rebooting all day - whether recording or not doesn't seem to make a difference.

Also I've noticed that when a recording starts, CCcam doesn't decode when you switch to another channel - until you switch off the recording...

Experiencing none of these issues on either of my Quads, one on 32 and the other on 23. I don't use cccam. Have you tried on FTA channels with Cam disabled?
