[VU+ Solo2] OpenVix downloading massive amounts of data!

Hi,

I'm using a SOLO2 with OpenVix.
I had installed build 032 yesterday and upgraded to 033 via software update.

The box is continuously downloading data at around 3MB/s, and has downloaded around 500+ GB of something.
There is no uploading happening on the router.

I upgraded to 035 today and restored the settings, the fault has continued.
The only way to stop it seems to be disconnecting the network for a few minutes or putting the box in deep standby... which isn't practical when trying to watch it.

Can you suggest what might be causing this or how I can narrow in on the fault?

There is nothing in the ViX image that connects to the internet to download other than when updating the image, so your fault must lie else where, do you have any open ports on your router for streaming ?, as this is a very easy way for people to gain access to your receiver to stream channels over the internet and could account for the data you are seeing.

No open ports yet, the router usage has been showing massive download but next to no upload so it shouldn't be somebody pinching my streams. I've just re-imaged with 035 and ignored the settings backup.

Issue has stopped! I've no functionality or timers but the issue has stopped lol.
Dodgy plugin? Problem with an FTA IPTV channel?

what do you mean with FTA IPTV? If you are watching IPTV then there is of course massive downloading.

Install wireshark or equivalent and have a look at the data packets. Most modern firewalls are setup to allow *all* TCP/UDP traffic originating from your LAN to exit to the internet. You could use a MAC filter to block it immediately as this would still allow you to use Wireshark, MS Network Monitor (or similar) to view the destination and port!

I've only been using OpenViX since the weekend but is there any Syslogging available? You could then run a syslog viewer on your client machine.

Well there you go then, if you are watching IPTV streams that's where your data is going.
