[ViX_Misc] EPG_Refresh plugin crashing since 12.11.

Thanks for the info, I'll try with that setting and see how it goes tomorrow...

Hi,
I use fake recording on my Duo2 automatically each morning. Did you setup the channels bouquets to use for refresh?

ciao

Hi,

Yep. Channels defined (one from each bouquet DVB-T/T2/S type bouquets). Last night tried with option "main picture", but still crashed (sent the crash log directly from box to beta team this morning). New Ideas needed...

Hi

EPG seems to be the hardest thing for these boxes. With original image my gigablue's epg was tolerable, but after openvix I've been without epg. Every time I've tried to get epg running all I get is constant crashing. Yesterday I flashed to Apollo.080, but still no epg without crashing. Is there somewhere uptodate instructions from very beginning to get working epg?
Over multiple boxes, thousands of builds, never had EPG crashing issues.
What EPG sources are you using, what EPG do you actually need?

To "priority" and "ronand", why on earth are you commenting on this thread with totally useless information that is in no way related to the problem or even the plugin in question? Stick to subject or create an separate thread of your issues or personal opinions, thank you.

I use fake recording to refresh my VM epg.

For me that's an crash also. I am now a bit running out of ideas what to try next. Well maybe if it's just my box that has this problem I'll next try to uninstall and do an fresh install of the plugin, if there has happened something odd in installation phase.

What has not been said in this thread is what settings have been used for the EPG refresh plugin. In essence what the plugin does is zap to a channel to allow the system to absorb the data. A "fake recording" zaps to the channel and records while at the same time the system absorbs the data.

Not all broadcast systems are the same. On some, the EPG data is available on all chanenls, on some, it is trickle speed on most channels and "super speed" on a particular frequency.

Please have a look at the following thread which describes the process for one particular provider. Details of channel will be different, but rest will be the same.

Strange because for me over the past four years with nine different receivers and several thousand image versions / builds. The EPG has always been solid, in fact the EPG in ViX is and always has been light years ahead of all other images and team efforts.

Agree with pheonix on the EPG reliability.

But back to subject, now I removed the EPG refresh plugin (and remover the epgrefresh.xml manually...) and reinstalled it. The plugin was not seen in plugins after install until rebooted the box. Btw the name of the plugin in the list is(and was) interesting... "PLUGINNAME_EPGRefresh".

EPG configuration is such that and EIT now/next and EIT EPG are enabled, rest disabled. The EPG refresh configuration was done like "the manual" suggests (and same kind of config has been running in multiple boxes that I used to own before Venton HD3).

I now run manually the refresh and there were no issues. Interesting to see what happens tomorrow morning when it should run scheduled. Also now running on top of Apollo 88 build.

OK. The reinstallation and reconfiguring (recreation of the epgrefresh.xml) seems to have done the trick. So it most likely got broken with some upgrade after the Apollo 64 build (for which I did clean install...) last time. No crash this morning.

Hi. I did not have any problems with epgrefresh until now. And the problems begun when I uninstalled the epgrefresh plugin just now.
I decided to make a manual restart after the uninstall and then it just crashes and restarts in a loop over and over again. Could anyone give me some ideas of how to resolv it? I will try to post a pic below:

I deleted that epgrefresh.py file from the crash logfile with filezilla. It is working now.
