[ViX_Misc] What is the policy for supporting new receivers?

Do you always take on new receivers as soon as a member of the Open Alliance has committed and working support for a new receiver or is there more to the decision, other than increased ViX support overhead consideration for each new model?
One of the considerations is that we want our team to have the supported hardware available. Some of the OE-A members just release what they can technically spoken, without having the hardware and hence without even considering testing and support.

Well, certainly some of the Germanic teams get their hands on the Xtrend boxes.
As my boxes sit behind closed doors, space, heat and functionality are key items, and the ET8500 wins (for me) on that score ..... pug ugly or not (beauty being in the eye of the beholder :) ) ... but I will be lost without my ViX image ..... and the need to install basic packages on other images!

Happy New Year to everyone on the ViX team.

You would be very surprised just how many teams release images without actually having a receiver to do even a basic boot test on, including some of the biggest Germanic teams. ViX will only ever release a image that we have tested on a physical receiver first.
