Apart from selecting or adding a new source/server in: Software Management - Advanced Options - Edit Upgrade source of course...

you can do that but its not recommended to do

and can ruin your box as all images have its own way of installing and placing files

congrats to all. what a flawless upgrade. maybe you might consider leaving the long ok vix setting as irishchris has identified for changing channels and bouquet presentation. i guess you get so used to how you use the remote control its a bit of a pain to learn how to do something differently when it already works perfectly. once again great work

ok, all figured, while the dm500 has sat there for years it was necessary to reboot. all perfect now

Its this VIX 1.3 i'm, interested in.

anyways, if you use it, could you please do for me what a mate done before with putting absultley everthing on the usb stick so as its just a case of me plugging it in and flashing it and thats everything ready to go, just like i have now, all the bouqets etc etc.

could i also ask a GIANT favour though from my wife, could you put a bouquet at the top of the bouqet list and call it something like "standard channels" and put in there BBC ONE scotland , BBC 2 scotland , STV HD AND ITV HD, CHANNEL 4 HD and CHANNEL 5 HD (if there actually is a channel 5 HD, i dunno, lol), if not just CHANNEL 5. (we're in glasgow so i dont know if that makes a difference).

its for the wife, shes been asking me for ages and i had a look and i cant work it out, i'm hopeless with all this stuff man.

all the years i had my eurovox and dreambox 500 i couldnt even master them, channels were all over the joint, LOL.

But it would be a great help if you could do that for me mate, youve no idea how much she nags and nags, lol.

another thing i was going to ask is, is there one single button to get into the bouqets ? ive tried and cant find it if there is, only way i can find the bouqets is by pressing the channel buttons and then (i think) the blue button i think.
Isnt there a single button ? if not why doesnt the image makers make it so you get one single button to get into bouqets ?
maybe its simply not possible to do it, i dont have a clue, just thought i would ask , its probably a hard job.

your other option is to press long press blue then green then go to bouquets and scroll down to SGTFlipFlop he has scottish bouquets

the only 2 ways to get the bouquets up are to either press up or down and then blue button or press tv blue button

VIX 1.3 is far better gui to use you will be ok with it :trustme:

ye i know, but i dont have a clue, i would prefer if someone done it like the way i am asking in the post if its not asking to much, then i usb stick it and go. as i say again, its not so much for me, i know my way round the box but the wife is hopeless, just hope someone can do it like my pal done before and fit that new bouqet in, no sense in trying to ask me to do it as my mate was even trying to get me to ftp the box and it wouldnt connect or nuffin, so i'm stuffed without the usb method, and the VIX 1.3 does look good , not bothered about the fact of having to press other buttons to get into the bouquets, thats fine, it was just a thought i would ask why there isnt one button and boom, straight into bouquets, even in the old dream boxs it was the same and i used to think to myself, how come someone hasnt been able to work out how to just make a single button the bouqet button, but anyway, thats not important, its the other part of the issue thats important in my thread, then at least i can get her to stop moaning about those channels, lol, ohh and to have 1.3 would be good too

I have many directories with various TV series in them, it would be nice to press the "recorded programs" button and get all my recently recorded programs first and the directories last.

you don't have to press 'OK' first just press/right

So I am aware of, but do they differ from the ones used in BH images..? I could of course try, but maybe it's for no good..?

Hypothetically: What if a Vu+ Duo running VIX, was connected to a BH server, would the installed cams from that server run on this Vu+?

you would break ViX image completely, our softcam manager has been completely written by me, and works completely different to all other images, i do NOT relay on shell scripts EVERYTHING is handled in python, i can't understand why coders would rely on a shell do do anything when we are working in a python environment.

however saying all that, i have made our Softcam Manager very easy to add additional softcams, just place the executable file in /usr/softcams and place your required config files where need to go, then open the Softcam manager and it should detect the new cams, if you get one working that is not our list post a zip of it and i'll add it to the feeds.

I know I am asking a lot, but could someone do this for me, I would at least give it a try if I could ftp to the box but I cant for some reason, me and the guy who put it all on usb stick tried to get it to ftp for ages before and theres no way it is working, I dont know why, he didnt know why, all I know is the stupid laptop has been like that since I bought it, does everything else but not ftp, it was a reconditioned model and the 3 month warranty was up before i even tried to ftp, so i aint giving you guys bull here, i am being honest, if i could do it myself i wouldnt ask anyone for anything, honestly, thats not an excuse, thats the truth, even read back on the other forums and if you know me under my other names then you will know that is true.

Anyway, really hope someone can help please, thanks guys :violin:
