I posted similar observations here:
http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?46660-Remote-control-weirdness but am happy to concentrate on this thread as it will help to have everything in the same place. Needless to say a significant amount of swearing takes place every time I want to do something as simple as scrolling through the EPG & adding an auto timer.
Yes webif is good. And yes I've found an enigma2 iPad app which can search EPG & setup auto timers but it's not the point: the remote should work properly, and it appears I'm not the only one whose remote is behaving like its possessed with a trigger happy ghost.
What I've not tried is the remote control in the iPad app (e2remote pro) which I will do and report back.
This evening for example in the EPG I finalally got to next Wednesday (after a few false OK's and other random phantom button actions) to add something to record and just as I got there it acted as if I'd pressed exit.
A few f words later & decided to use the EPG search - of which pressing the correct button brought up IMDb instead (what's the point? I uninstalled it but it still shows as an option, of course now telling me it's not installed - yes I know, thanks, I deleted it but the ghost of IMDb still haunts my EPG)
Try again.. This time, EPG search correctly appears but then takes multiple attempts to enter all the characters amongst random ghostly uncommanded key presses, including a random exit.
It's not energy saving light bulbs (I use good old GU10 halogen, and mostly we watch good dramas & film with the lights off anyway)
It's not another remote "stuck"...
... Or having point the box in a southerly direction, not within two miles of a plasma TV, a kettle, a flight path, or my cat. Yes I'm being sarcastic but it's getting to the point where I've simply had enough.
Surely there has to be some way we can log remote reception & subsequent action to diagnose this behaviour ?
As an aside can anyone tell me if it's possible to skip ahead one day at a time in the (Cross) EPG?
So if it's Wednesday at 21:00, 4x key presses should be all that's needed to get to Sunday at 21:00.
At the moment I'm tediously pressing '6' on the remote - skips forward a few hours - made worse by the behaviour reported above.
Cheers
Ashley
