VIX Team Vu+ Duo Image v1.3 - 05/12/2010

First, let me say a big THANK YOU to the VIX team. This is a great image you created and I prefer it very much over the VTI 2.2 which I used previously. The VIX EPG is superior, its adaptation possibilities (e.g. font size), and also the quick access to IMdB.... great job! Have just used it now for 2 days and am very impressed. exactly what I wished for.

Unfortunately I am facing one problem that has been reported here before. My 1.5 TB Samsung Ecogreen Hard Disk is quite often not detected during boot.
This hurts especially when the box is "fired up" by a timer from deep standby to do a record, and then it will just do nothing..... such a pity.
Maybe this could be sorted out? If I should provide a debug, please let me know what to do.

9 times out of 10 this appears to be related to EPG downloads, you dont have to power off to get round it, telnet into box and issue this command: killall -9 enigma2

Happened to me yesterday for the 1st time and then noticed that most of the epg's were gone. Is there some config we can set on the epg downloads to avoid this?

Just wanted to thank all the developers who worked on this image. It's amazing and looks extremely professional and elegant.

Some questions for you

1.) I used DreamSet (or Dreamedit) to number and name my channels correctly but numbers don't work. I see them being displayed when I press the number keys but I just stay on the same channel I was on, how do I enable their use?

2.) Is there a way to alphabetically sort the EPG?

3.) Is there a way to group HD channels at the top of the quick channel guide

4.) Is there any chance for a VIX image for sh receivers like the Atevio 7000? AAF are actively working on their Enigma2 images but I much prefer this one

I also have a 1.5Tb Samsung Ecogreen hard disk installed in my VU with 1.3 and are facing the same issue. I must say I am quite relieved to hear that you are having the same issue as I thought it could be a hardware issue with my box.

Please let me know if you find a fix

I am hoping that VIX team might find an improvement if more and more people reporting this issue, and because the same receiver and hard disk don't show this problem with VTI image. Otherwise, am so satisfied with this image.

Again thanks to all for the excellent image, extremely impressive.

I am seeing the freezing issue also, but I have put it down to my internal hd being switched off when not in use. I do not use timeshift.
The time it takes for the VIX logo to disappear is exactly the same as it takes for the hd to wake up.
I'm guessing that the EPG dat files are stored on the hd and it needs to read these to change the channel.
I have tried to set the EPG location to the Internal Flash in Cross EPG but that did not change the issue.
Did not notice this in 1.2.

Don't worry about question 2. After updating using DreamEdit, the EPG is alphabetically sorted. Still need to know how to activate channel numbers and if there is a way to group HD, or should I just had HD as a favourite?

after having a troublesome TM800HD for the last 6 months i bought a VU+ Duo over xmas and got it yesterday and installed the lastest VIX image and was up and running in a little over half an hour. Just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to the VIX team for a awesome image :smiley_yup::smiley_yup: and compared the the TM800 this box is just brilliant and best of all for me the wife isnt moaning any more

Hi.

Got an irritating problem maybe someone can help me with?
Almost every night this prob happens.
The box becomes very slow and slugglish via the remote, and then i get the spinner, and the only way to get out of it is to reboot the box.
Vu+Duo.
By then all the EPG is gone on all providers, and I have to wait for it to scan again which takes ages.
I store the EPG.dat to my USB drive.
The box appears to lose connection to the USB drive.
Maybe this is an Image thing, as Dream Elite did exactly the same thing!!!!

Has anybody had this please????

If you ave a hard drive installed try downloading the epg to that and see if the problem persists

How are you re-booting your receiver? Are you holding down the standby button on remote and selecting restart or just turning off and on again?

Well, by that time the receiver has all but frozen up, so it has to be a mains power reboot from the on/off switch at the back

do you have your usb mounted to /media/USB

and in the epg and VIX menu have you told the box where to look for the epg

Yes to both my friend, but thanks for your reply.
Am beginning to think it may be the skin(beyonce)causing the instability??
Will try another skin before I take furthur actions.
I wish it was something as daft as you said.
Even the picon loacation is pointed to the USB!
Perhaps a good old fashioned reflash from scratch will work??
