Hi
Is there a way of removing dead transponders manually
When I do a scan I always say remove unused channels before scan
Then when I check the transponders they are still there on the zero
Uncle

What do you mean, "transponders are still there"? Still where?

Hi

There is no such option.
You can use 'Clear before scan'; this means that before scanning all services (on the selected transponder/satellite/satellites) will be removed; obviously all 'newly' found services will be added again.

Be aware: if a scan returns no results (for whatever what reason) all 'old' services will still be there.

as not mentioned what service sat or cable side,on cable side there are many listed that dont work at this time of year and may come live at some time eg sly christmas will only work at xmas time.
having a tp setup and saved for the activation of it with name changes which sky do a lot.
on sat plenty of funny results when looking at the autoscan [ yes i still do it lol ] they might have other functions we cannot see and think its dead.
if using abm bouquet we dont see dead stuff.:D:thumbsup:

Hi
When you use remove before scan option the old transponders stay there and are not removed consequently
there are a load of old transponders that's why I ask can they be removed manually
This is on 28.2e
Uncle

Still don't know what transponders stay there means. Where do they stay?

If you go into signal finder and scroll through the transponders they are still there in the list and are not removed after doing a scan ,there is no signal beside them but the transponder is still there

Predefined transponders are from satellites.xml. These are kept up to date during image updates (at least with OE-Alliance images they are). If you have no signal on one that means you are out of the footprint, or that the transponder has closed and will be removed at the next software update.

Unless OP is using his personal satellites.xml in etc/enigma2; then that one will be used and he took over responsibility to keep it up-to-date.

Anyway: the setting 'clear before scan' refers to services, not to transponders.

I think that he means on transponder which doesn't have signal anymore.
So for that there is solution, go to the channnel which shows 0.0dB (or whatever You have for signal detection), push Menu>Service searching>Manual scan
You will be on frequency (transponder) which don't transmit anymore, click Yes on Clear before scan (do not click on network scan) and then scan.
Your dead channels will be deleted on that transponder, for other dead transponder You will have to scan manualy. If You scan with network scan > Yes, receiver will use network list of transponders and will not use your dead transponders. I am cleaning dead transponders that way, because I don't like others settings which contain many dead transponders and dead channels. In many situation when You scan single satellite with network scan>Yes & Clear before scan>Yes, You will not remove dead channels.

As already mentioned above, when you click on the transponders to search/check, the satellites.xml file is queried.

User version of file should be kept in /etc/enigma2
This will take precedence over the system one. If you are using your own satellites.xml make sure you keep it up to date it.

System version of file is in /etc/tuxbox
Do not touch this file.

If OP wants to know the following:
How do I delete all channel data so that I can scan again and only have active channels, he should say so.

If You scan with network scan > Yes, receiver will use network list of transponders and will not use your dead transponders.
That is only partial the case. The network scan will use all transponders the network providers tells to use. Of course you may expect him to keep his list up-to-date, but that's not always the case. And besides: there can be very good reasons a good working transponder can't be received (due to local circumstances or the geo-location). In both cases the network-scan will add the 'dead' transponders to the search again.
Transponders added via the network scan will be added to the lamedb, but not to the satellites.xml.
For me this is the reason never to use the network scan at all.
