Just bought Ultimo 4K from our WOS sponsor. I am completely confused as to the correct tuner setup. I have 2X TWIN SATELLITE FBC TUNERS INSTALLED. I am not using FBC Unicable yet. I have a twin Inverto, therefore I am using the legacy ports on each tuner. i.e. one cable to 'A' and one to 'B'.

As my setup is motorised I have 'A' through the motor.

Now to my problem. I am confused by the number of tuners shown i.e. A to P. and the cable setting, i.e. equal, same, second of motorised.

Do I connect the second cable to 'I' in the menu and which of the above settings is correct.

Any help appreciated.

There is no such thing as FBC Unicable.

Tuner configuration is about telling the receiver what you have connected to the receiver.

You have something connected to Tuner A, tell receiver what you have connected to it.

Do the same for tuner B. Did you not ask something similar before?

Leave the "fake" tuners at the default.

So the second cable goes to tuner B but what should it be set as? equal, same, second of motorised.?

You set tuner B to what it actually is - Second cable of motorised LNB Tuner A.

You would just setup tuner A & B like you would normally, and the other tuners will automatically loopthrough.

BTW, motorised would be on tuner B & fixed 28.2 would be on tuner A.

Thanks for that.

Just to clarify, I have only one dish (motorised) with twin LNB which I have set through tuner 'A'. Thanks to suggestions I have now set tuner 'B' as 'second cable'.

At some point I will go Unicable ( yes Abu I do know the difference) and will probably need some assistance then, meanwhile, thanks for all the constructive comments.

Ok This is where I am confused as a search on G**gle using the phrase 'unicable and motorised dish' would seem, in a number of websites, to indicate that it was possible.

Admitted it looks a little complicated but possible nevertheless. I also admit that although I have installed motorised dish setups for 20 years or more, technology has raced ahead and I may not have the current technical skills that are required.

It is for that reason I look to the Forum for help and comprehensive explanations.

Unicable is designed for mutiple receivers to access one satellite.

Putting unicable aside, if you had an octo lnb connected to a motorised dish, how would multiple receivers control/decide who uses which satellite? If a person had set a timer on 13e and the "controller" moved the dish to 28.2, what happens?

Physically, it is possible. However Enigma2 is not coded to use a unicable LNB on a motorised dish.

You cannot use a unicable LNB on a motorised dish.

Below is what you said in a thread ( Can vu+solo 4k be used with existing single cable and LNB with motor) dated 11/12/16
Now perhaps you can see why I am getting confused.

Quote.....I stand corrected. You can set a unicable LNB on a motor (irrespective of DVB-S tuner type).

Please understand context in which it was said. I hope you read post 34 in that thread which clarifies things. As far as I know, the best usage for Unicable and FBC tuners for those with motors is to use two dishes. The unicable LNB being on the fixed dish. i.e not use Unicable on a motor.

As you are adamant you can use a unicable LNB on a motor and make use of the unicable LNB as intended. Please post back exactly how you have physically connected your equipment and also what tuner configurations you have used.

Abu

Thanks for reply. As I said earlier I intend to install the Unicable LNB setup but not just yet.

At that time I am more than willing to post my results, be they positive or negative for the benefit of the Forum.

Meanwhile, many thanks again.

I fully accept your comments in your post, however, if I am the only user and if I wish to record from just one satellite position then is it not possible?

This is what I want but I am being told I cannot use a motor with a Unicable setup.

The question is, what benefit do you think you will get from this setup?
