Might sound a stupid question, but how do you start to get this working?

Do you insert the USB then install the drivers, install drivers and then insert usb?

After that's done then what do you do.

Just bought one today, and realised I have no idea how to get it working?
Saw the drivers are on the ViX now, but no idea where to go next, and could not find anything on a search, but that may have been because I didn't know what to search for!

Got the the box set-up the way I like, and just want to push it that bit further.
So any pointers will be great.

Thanks for another great image!!

What I did was:
Plugin the WinTV Nova-T
Installed the Driver
Reboot the box
When into Menu / Setup / Service Searching / Tuner Configuration / Tuner C
Change Terrestrial provider to Europe, Middle East, Africa DVB-T frequencies
Then ran a complete scan on Tuner C

no mate just make sure u set to as above post and do a rescan it will be fine and for any one in british isles can just use my bouquet set and they will get all available channels

Woodcock Hill Clare 682000

I'll have to try that again as after i rebooted i got no tuner C.

I did get an error on the download, so i'll have to try again later.

Still can't get it to do anything.
Does it matter what USB Port you ahve it plugged into.

I'm using a Flash Drive in the rear top and the WIN-TV in the Bottom slot.
Is there any way to test from Telnet to see if it see the USB?
As I'm just getting no Tuner C option after re-booting.

I have mine installed the other way round WinTV at top and usb stick at bottom, but I can't see how this would make a difference. Might be worth a try.
You did a full reboot and not just an enigma reboot?

Do you see it listed in menu / information / about ?
Did you check that the WinTV is working in a Windows PC?

I'll give that a go then.

Yes Even tried a Power Off, just to make sure.

No Don't see it in Menu at all, just Tuner A and B,
And Yes it works in both Windows fine.

I'll try with the USB at Top.

OK, Her is what I've done now.

Powered Down VU
WIN NOVA-T in Top Rear USB
Flash In Rear Bottom Slot

Checked in Menu and not seen,
Installed wintv.nova.t(1.0-r5)
I guess I don't need to install any other pluggins?

I get a brief glimps of adding dvbhelper to /etc/init.d

Restart VU+ (this time tried from Telnet shutdown -r now)
Check in Menu
Information
About

And I don't see anything there, so nothing is in service scanning?

SO could possibly be a faulty one?

Just Switched off and plugged it in the from USB Port and that worked.
So trying in the rear again now.

Might be worth trying a fresh install after you back up your setting and images. Those usb extender cable can be dodgy too.

ANd that failed.
SO trying in the front with the USB Extender, and that worked.
SO looks like I can only get it working in the Front.
Booooo

Will try a re-flash tomorrow i think.

Thanks for your help!!

When i was beta testing the new vix image i only ever used the front usb socket and has worked fine since the new year

Basset does your one work in the rear as well (hmm that sounded all wrong)
Does your USB Stick still work if you use one of the Rear USB Slots, and not the front one?

mine while beta testing worked perfet back and front

in fact i was andy's nightmare as i gave him the most bugs to fix on it so i know for sure it works

try this

install driver with out usb in

reatrt

inert usb

restart gui

then look in tunner config

Right after getting it working in the Front and scanned in, I've not got it detecting in the back.

I think I'm embarresed to say I was being too gently with pushing it in,

Whilst the USB Port at the front get more use, the one's at the back are a little tighter, and needed a bit more of a push in.

How embarrasing!!

So all good, and all working just me being stupid!! :smash:

Thanks for all your help!!

Oh and a quick note Silver, on your Settings which I love BTW, I always have to edit the 140 (CHannel 4 HD) to the other one scanned in for some reason, otherwise I can't use the AUtoTimer on the EPG, no idea why though!? Probably me being stupid again.

But i know last time I had a problem with BBC HD, Andy done a fix for it.

do me a favour, turn on debug in ViX setings, restart gui try that channel 4 by adding a autotimer, then post the log found in /home/root

them turn off debug and restart gui, see if a find out why it not picking it up
