Just a random question, what are the .xz files that are filling up the root of my hard drives, I usually delete them with no apparent issues,
I did clean installs on all of my boxes of the latest image on the 11th of June and there is already 10 of these .xz files created?

No clue what they contain or where they came from. The full file names might help. Is the box exposed on the public internet?

The file names look random, ie, aellk.xz, bmyhz.xz, euaqo.xz
exposed to the internet, I run Xtreamity and BouquetMakerXtream on my boxes, I'm guessing but I think they are created when my Epg updates, but I could be far from the mark, I think they've only showed up since updating to OpenVix 6 and above.

So a bit of research , on one of my boxes on the hdd/root is one of these files tmtjh.xz, it is timestamped today 06:34, I have copied the latest debug log and opened it with notepad a quick search finds the text
<286653.283468> 06:34:00.9666 [EPGImport][urlDownload] Downloading: http://rytecepg.dyndns.tv/epg_data/rytecUK_SkyDead.xz to local path: /media/hdd/tmtjh.xz
So I'm assuming the box downloads the epg data as an .xz compressed file which it then creates the epg.dat file from which then populates my epg, I would have thought that after the epg.dat file has been created it would delete the now redundant ./xz file?
but then on the next line I get
<286653.347447> 06:34:01.0306 [EPGImport][afterDownload] Exception filename 0 /media/hdd/tmtjh.xz
<286653.347551> 06:34:01.0307 [EPGImport][downloadFail] download failed: [EPGImport][afterDownload] File is empty
So because the .xz is empty it does nothing with it, so this is possibly a bug, not tidying up the files?

If they are from rytec they are downloaded by EPGImport plugin (or Cross). Nothing to do with OpenViX version. That is just coincidence.

It's the EPG-Importer plugin that I use, not sure what the source 'Dead on Sat' provides so I have unchecked it to see if that stops it from creating these files.
