Dorik1972, History zapper plugin - crash on pressing the INFO button

Done

Then upload the debug log. Crash logs are different to debug logs. Your crash log showed the wrong receiver, one of the coders checked and it is correct for him. Did you restore a settings backup from the gbue4k when you got the gbquad 4k pro?

No, it is fresh. I got my GBQ 4k Pro 3m ago Brand NEW ,
Installed the image a month ago. It's not my daily image.
The questions were:
What other plugins have you loaded (and from where).
And exact steps to reproduce.

to reproduce, just I press the info button - I think epg translator is the cause of the trouble
plugin i can list here if you want
majority from the feed or those new panels like Elie SAT Panel

Most likely one of those plugins is overwriting EventViewEPGSelect.

To list all your installed items, provided you did it by opkg instead of just placing python files on receiver by a script/panel, please issue the following command by any telnet client (putty, openwebif terminal etc). A file will be created in the /tmp directory of your receiver. Please upload it on this forum.

Rich (BB code):
opkg list-installed >/tmp/installed_plugins.txt

Have you tried flashing Vix again in another slot. When it reboots into that slot, do not say yes to restoring your backup, set it up as bare minimum as possible. Do not install any other plugins apart from epg translator. Try and reproduce the crash. Your existing images will not be affected.

Guesswork:
You have HistoryZapSelector, that is more than likely going to interact with the EPG screens. The history zap built into image works fine as far as I am aware. Judge, Huevos and I worked on that years ago.

Guesswork:
You have HistoryZapSelector,
Doesn't seem to be the problem: at least not Dima73's version on github.
(Although that does have a bug, as its "Exchange EPG/Info buttons" option runs in the opposite way to intended).

Well, that list mentions historyzap, rather than historyzapselector.
So it is definitely not that one I found from Dima73 (which is also version 2.3, whereas you have 1.0.44).

I can find https://raw.githubusercontent.com/biko-73/History_Zap_Selector/main/installer.sh, which looks close, but that is only version 1.0.41, and there is no source available for it.

https://www.mediafire.com/file/x2wlf0fnza80730/enigma2-plugin-extensions-historyzap_1.0.42_all.ipk/file exists, but there is no indication as to whence that came, nor again where the source is.

So where did you get your version 1.0.44?

Well, one problem has gone away, The ipk is actually the source files. So I have the source (of v1.0.42 anyway).

And we have the problem....

Once I install this History_Zap_Selector and press Info I get:

< 2589.678635> 22:51:29.2356 AttributeError: 'EventViewEPGSelect' object has no attribute 'EPGTr_translating'
So there's an issue with using both of these plugins together. My suspicion is that it's a bug in History_Zap_Selector, but I would say that, wouldn’t I.

But now that you've provided the info that was requested I have something to work with.

In the meantime I suggest you remove one of these two plugins.

But now that you've provided the info that was requested I have something to work with.
Or possibly not.
It looks like the code that does all of the hooks is in either __init.pyc or plugin.pyc, and the source of these is not provided (the ipk provides a pre-compiled version for various release versions of Python).

I've tried various Python decompilers to see whether I can get source from these *.pyc files, but so far nothing has worked.

Unless I can see the source there is nothing I can do, as I have no idea what this plugin is actually doing.

Well. I've found the source of version 1.0.44.
There a long thread about this plugin and this is an attachment at:
https://www.linuxsat-support.com/thread/153407-history-zap-selector-by-dorik1972/?postID=876782#post876782
The provision of binary versions of these two files may be deliberate as the poster "if you like it you can make donations" in his(?) signature.

Mind you, the README file says the plugin is open source and subject to GPLv2.

I've requested the source (as an Issue on github), Let's see what happens....

FWIW the latest versions of the History Zap Selector plugin have a bug, in that if you remove it using opkg, that will remove /tmp.

Thanks for the excellent troubleshooting from my initial post; you pinpointed this plugin.
So, I will ftp and manually delete it and will give you the feedback
cheers

If the plugin changed system files, manually deleting the plugin won't solve your problem. The approach to "use a script to fetch files from internet to place/overwrite files on receiver in order to install a plugin" is wrong.

You are better off flashing image again and only installing plugins from server for now. You have 8 multiboot slots on your receiver.

That's not what it does.
The code seems to be replacing objects in a way that assumes they are "original" (despite the fact that the plugin itself is making them "non-original", and hence must know that this is possible).

However, once you've deleted it I'd suggest a reboot, so that issue with it removing /tmp (a feature of opkg and the way the plugin is now packaged) can be cleared up.

The History Zap Selector plugin fails all of my attempts (I've tried quite a few) to decompile it.
It always fails on a LOAD_FAST instruction: I have no idea why.

However, I can see that it does change the EventViewBase.__init__ function. I just can't see what it does with it that leads to the problem.

It also states that it is under the GPLv3.
