Hi All
I have recently purchased the AB PULSe 4K Rev. II (2XS2X) and I am looking for some direction/help in the set up of the tuners, as I see a lot of discrepancies when recording FTA and trying to view a different FTA channel. Current set up below and some of the issues I am experiencing:
Just to note I have been using a Zgemma h2s for the last number of years with little or no issue recording FTA and watching another. (Changed to this current box as the IPTV viewing is better on the box and it seems a lot faster). Happy so far with Pulse 4K just this issue is catching me out.

Latest Open ATV Image

FTA UK Channels all showing and play as normal.
Set up is a standard Dish with recently installed V -Output Universal Quad LNB - 2 physical cables connected to Tuners A&B - No issue with this on Zgemma.

Current Tuner set up (Same as Zgemma):
Tuner A
Simple
Single
Satellite: 28.2E

Tuner B
Simple
Single
Satellite: 28.2E

I tried changing Tuner B to say "Same as Tuner A" = Didn't work

issues are:
  1. I record on a HD/SD channel, e.g. E4 HD and then i zap to other FTA channels and for the most part a lot of other HD channels wont load - Black screen. Some HD channels do load and work OK - e.g. ITV 4 HD
  2. I record on a HD/SD channel, e.g. E4 HD and then i zap to other FTA (HD Channels) channels and it loads but a lot of jittering and skipping (This sometimes resolves itself after about 10-15 sec if you stay on channel?
  3. I record on a HD/SD channel, e.g. E4 HD and then i zap to other FTA channels (HD Channels) and the the picture is there but no sound
  4. Regards all of the above, when i actually play the recording there is a lot of freezing and stuttering, as it looks like this is due to me zapping whilst recording
  5. If I just leave on the recording channel whilst recording and then play there is no issue with playback.
Seems the issue is around whilst recording HD/SD, or my tuners set up is wrong for this box.

Any help/direction on the above would be greatly appreciated

Regards

3 postings for same problem ?
Just hoping someone from one of the threads will know what I am doing wrong, apologies if this is the wrong way to go about looking for help

Wrong forum also - OpenATV have their own website. This is the OpenVix forum. Not a great way to start off by bombing multiple threads - I will delete the other posts.
Looks like a signal issue - check the signal quality on both tuners by tuning into one and starting recording. Then select another channel on a different transponder and checking signal quality. If it's working on the zgemma and not working on this box, then possibly tuner seated badly or bad connection or tuner faulty.

Thanks for the reply. Tried what you suggested = Recording on Tuner A & signal quality is at 60% on Tuner B (Signal Quality similar to Tuner A when not recording)

SQ seems very low. You should be getting 100% (or high 90s) on 28.2 if it's not raining. Your dish or LNB is not optimised. Where are you based (country/region will do) and what dish size? I see you mention a recent install of quad LNB. It's possible it is not skewed correctly or the dish hasn't been peaked properly. I recently changed my old octo LNB due to the plastic cover perishing and letting in water. I discovered that the dish needed a little tweak to the east to peak the signal to 100% when I installed a new quad LNB.

Based in Ireland - Midlands
Dish is very old, could be there about 15 years, maybe that's my problem. I never get over 70 % raining or not

I'm in Wicklow - zone 2 Sky dish - at least twenty years old, but it's been painted a couple of times with masonry paint. I was losing signal in rain a few months ago, but that turned out to be water ingress caused by the LNB cover breaking up from UV exposure. New LNB plus tweaking the dish resulted in 100% SQ.

Going to have a look at the Cabling/Dish,
Looks like a cable issue, Some troubleshooting results below
  • Tuner A (Tuner B Disabled)Scan Set To Manual (Single satellite/Network Yes/FTA Only No) = This pulls in 652 Services
  • The other way around with Tuner A disabled and scan on Tuner B, Scan = 0
  • Switch around cables - Tuner A - (Tuner B Disabled)Scan Set To Manual (Single satellite/Network Yes/FTA Only No) = This pulls in 0 Services
  • Tuner B (Tuner A Disabled)Scan Set To Manual (Single satellite/Network Yes/FTA Only No) = This pulls in 662 Services
It looks like the cable that was originally connected in the Tuner B is dodgy,

Also what I have noticed is that Both Sat Cables MUST be connected at the back of the receiver to get a signal, e.g. If I disable Tuner B and disconnect the physical cable from the receiver I cant get a signal on the box, same the other way around, testing both cables. The 2 Cables must be connected

where did you buy the box? Its the cable to tuner B have a good look at it and see if the inner braid is touching the outer braid and do same at dish end. Then use a different out on the lnb.
did you keep the zgemma h2s as a backup and you could plug that back in. If you have cable spare its not a bad idea to re do connections for a new box. New LNB that could be the source of problem.

Did you just use old cables from the HS2 and why change LNB?

That box does multiboot so you can have vix on it and post queries here!!

Hope to get a chance later this afternoon to re-check connections on the LNB and maybe re-do connectors on both ends.
Same cabling in place
Purchased new LNB as old one had a small hole in it from weathering

Will look in to using multiboot & installing vix

If there is any whisker of braid touching the centre conductor it will cause a short and the tuner will detect it. Check the F-plugs carefully and ensure the braid is trapped under the threads of the barrel and no chance of braid touching the centre core. If you are up at the dish you might see if you can the the SQ to 100% by nudging it slightly left or right. The cables coming out of the LNB should be pointed between 6 and 7 o'clock if you are looking at the face of the dish. Rotate the LNB in the holder to maximise the SQ. Get the cabling sorted first and you can look to getting multiboot and Vix installed later.

Thanks everyone so far for suggestions & help
cables connected to both A & B in pic
Re-housed both connecters at receiver - No braid touching the center/copper (No change to signal)
Next step I think is to get up to the dish to check and re-house Connector for the cable going in to Tuner B. Might have to wait for this storm that's coming to blow over first

OK, all working now.
I finally got up to the dish yesterday and cut off an inch of each cable & put 2 new connectors on and now both tuners are pulling in 662 channels each, when i do a manual scan.
I can record a channel and watch any other channel with no issue.
Also no issue when disconnecting a cable, other tuner still works.

Cable/connector for tuner B looked very worn at the dish, so as per earlier input, this must have been the main issue here. (Although, before I changed anything at the dish, I had plugged back in the Zgemma and this was working as it should & showing none of the above issues), but all good now on the AB Pulse

So again, thanks to everyone for their help and support, much appreciated

Hello,
are ABcom Pulse 4k and AXHD61 the same? Hardware is very similar (equal)?
Could you confirm it?
Thx.

Hi,
Could you start a separate thread regarding your problem please? Your question has nothing to do with the subject of this thread.
