Hi.

I'd like to add a USB tuner to my device to receive DVB-T2 signals. World of Satellite shop doesn't have anything and the Sundtek link here on the forums is broken. Can someone point me in the right direction for a suitable tuner and setup guide? Would it have the same usage as my built-in sat. tuners, such as EPG, scheduling recordings and streaming over the network?

Thanks guys.

Hauppage do them. The WinTV ones might work in a generic Linux system (difficult to tell).

sundtek: Google pointed me to the Sundtek store but they're sold out. I found one on a UK-based website for £50. There's nothing on eBay, unfortunately.

birdman: the Hauppage devices are on eBay a lot. Do you know which ones specifically would work?

The Xbox One TV Tuner keeps cropping up so I think I might try it because it's cheap (£10-12) and there're loads of them on eBay. There's people on the OpenVix forum using them with Zgemma devices. I think I'll try this before the Sundtek just for the price. Someone willing to guide me on setting one of these up on OpenVix? I think the main issue is knowing which driver to use.

But with any of these sticks will I be able to stream over the network/record/get EPG just like with the built-in tuners?

Thanks guys.

I'm using a PlayStation (PlayTV) usb tuner which I bought used at €8 with my VU+ Uno 4kSE which comes with built-in DVB-S2 tuners but no terrestrial. I'm in Ireland which uses DVB-T (not T2) so not suitable for you, but I have found it great. Occasional slight picture breakup when recording if I am changing channels on DVB-T but nothing significant of note after a year of operation. I would say go for the XBOX tuner at that cheap price. It won't be as good as a built-in tuner but it will give you some flexibility. Do you know if the XBOX tuner is single or can support two multiplexes? My PlayTV tuner is actually two tuners in one, so I can record from two multiplexes at once.

"Sundtek store but they're sold out." they are not sold out in the sundtek store, we still have tuners in stock, also we manufacture by ourself. Not only can they be used with Settopboxes, also with NAS systems, Windows, Raspberry PI, etc.

PlayTV is cheap because the company doesn't exist anymore also it's DVB-T only as mentioned, and it's either left over stock or second hand. Don't even think about Windows 11 certified drivers for that device.. (what is worse than the signature for the drivers is that every company seems to have to beg Microsoft for an account for 3 months; where they strictly only answer one email per day in indian english and their system is faulty too). We've done that and it was an awful process.

The PCTV 292e does (it works on my et8000, so anything with a later kernel than 4.1.x should be fine).

I have one of those, too.

It's only single tuner from what I can see.

I've just looked again and the only T2 tuner I can see is a MiniPCIe card. Could you link me?

That's a nice small device. I can't find any 292e's on eBay though so I think I'll go for the Xbox tuner. Shame though, the 292e claims to be compatible with linux from the get-go so I'd probably find it easier to set up.

Thanks guys.

all of the DVB-C tuners also support DVB-T2 not only the minicard Digital Home would be suitable for you, also they include the latest chipsets and no need to mess around with firmware.

The Xbox Tuner works beatifully! And, so simple to set up. Not bad for under a tenner.

I'd like to post a guide for others, is there a place on the board to do that?
Do you have a model of the tuner and what drivers it uses from the feeds?

Hi and thanks for the guide.
I'm struggling to get it working on my VU+ Solo2.
I trying to use an Xbox TV tuner connected to an indoor aerial.
It's running the latest version of OpenVix
I have downloaded the 2 plugins mentioned in your guide.
dvb-usb-dib0700
dvb-usb-mn8847x
But it no showing in my tuners.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I added those. Guide is here.

Thanks guys.
