Using two receivers to interact with each other

Cheers @2stein. I may have downloaded them bad from the Git. I reight clicked and said "Save As" but I seem to remember somewhere that I needed to do a trick with binary mode so I will have another look tonight and download them fresh.

@Huevos - can you remind me the correct way to download them from the git and any other things i need to do to them prior to transferring with Winscp ? I am being a bit dim!!

Make sure the file transfer mode is "binary" - not ASCII. I'm not familiar with SCP, but on FileZilla the default file transfer mode is "auto" and it assumes that files with .py suffix are ASCII and inserts CRLF line endings unless you choose "binary" mode. As @2stein posted - ensure you download the raw format from github.

Thanks all. I got it working (well the plugin config screens at any rate). I have setup the settings and also added my "server" box by IP in the client box but I have to say I don't see anything at all. If I go into the EPG I don't see any new "remote" bouquets, If I look at the timer list I see no difference either.

I guess I will have to go and see if I can find some exaple youtube videos showing it in action because at the moment it seems to do nothing.

Selected "Use External" for Servicelists thinking this would tell it to use the EPG on the Zgemms (server) box

Well. I played with partnerbox some more and it wasn't what I was hoping it was. The remote epg is visible inside the plugin but it's not a seamless grid view like I'm after so...... With much sadness I admit defeat. It is not possible to get a remote epg apart from by using openWebif or another type of app.

Seems that is the only option with enigma2 sadly. A "proper" client mode where the client box utilises the server box EPG, recordings and everything else (rather that a grab and display a local copy on the local client machine) would be a "more comprehensive / real" client box / mode though .

Like Sky Q with its client boxes but without the crazy cost of Sky - that would be a cracking solution but..... not at this stage of the lifecycle of satellite and terrestrial broadcasting which will most likely be gone in 10 years time sadly. I am all for catch up and streaming services that will take thier place but only when the UK government mandates that you should be able to record them as part of the specification so that you have the opportunity to not be forced to watch the adverts - a single household £10 a month advert "get out" fee covering all of the subscription services could then be levied to anyone who doesn't want adverts for crap that nobody wants needs.

This is why I personally will hang on to the terrestrial services and satellite services until their dying day. Some people have a mental health condition for this and others have a condition for that. Mine is for adverts pushed into my face. OCD. This, of course, is nothing at all to do with "client mode".

And when that goes to sh*t and I have little choice - I will "illegally" donwload everything I want to watch from some dodgy website where some kind soul has posted them and either already removed the adverts or I will use my, by then, 20 year old enigma2 box to play them and use the wonderful 3,6 and 9 buttons which I have tuned so nicely that I can skip the adverts in about 5 seconds

The 3,6, and 9 buttons are probably the best feature of enigma2 for me!!

Well we are not Sky and don't have their budget. No one pays us anything. We are almost in April and so far there has only been £140 donated towards the £2500 server costs. So what is the point working on features such as this when there won't be servers to host OpenViX on.

Sky have a budget of more than 3 billion pounds so can hire plenty of developers. Here we have jobs and families and do this in what little spare time we have.
