[ABM-DVB-S/S2] ABM London issues - ITV1 HD

My ABM Freesat region config is set to BBC/ITV London. For about two weeks now (after the last ITV reshuffle) my ITV1 London HD has had no now/next or EPG schedule info. The SID being used by ABM for ITV London is 20830 and it seems to be named by ABM as "ITV1 London HD". Now, I can't see any service actually named ITV London when I tune the transponder and display the service list, nor when I scan the actual transponder. I am presuming that there is some actual hard coded renaming of the service name going on? Just for comparison, I powered up my ancient Humax Freesat box and initially had the same issue with ITV1 HD - no now/next or EPG schedule info. Then I ran a Freesat scan on the Humax (using my usual London postcode info) and the ITV HD1 service name for London was just called ITV1 HD. The now/next data and EPG schedule is ok on the Humax at this point. See screenshots of ABM and final two from Humax. Both are using the same transponder but are using different service names. It looks like 20830 SID (using a renamed service name) is causing an issue getting the EIT and schedule data properly. If I try other regions (Granada, UTV, STV etc. etc.) all is ok. Same for SKY London region (which uses a different transponder for ITV HD).

Ok - understood. But somehow, ABM has picked up SID 20830 and used it for London. No EIT or EPG schedule data with it shown in OpenVix. Other SIDs in that transponder (various ITV regions) are working fine as regards now/next and EPG, so it may be some linkage problem between that particular SID (which was the old one used for London) and the EIT data or else ABM needs to use a different SID? I can perhaps record all services on that transponder when a local news or weather programme is scheduled and confirm that the regional name matches the actual transmission?

AH - FFS!

I've sat on this problem for about two weeks assuming it was a broadcaster error, so no point in reporting it. Having finally decided to report it here and spent about an hour getting my old Humax Foxsat receiver (and a very sticky remote) working and manual screenshots done and a report written, guess what? Bloody Freesat/RedBee have finally sorted the SID naming and EIT and EPG linking issues within the past couple of hours! An updated screenshot from just now on SID 20830...

BTW, the renames are by channel_id, not SID, so it doesn't matter if the SID changes.

Understood. But I was a bit surprised that no-one had picked up on the now/next and EPG schedule issues on London ITV. I would have thought that it would be a common use case. But maybe most folks in the UK are using Freeview, rather than Freesat. The SKY transponder changes are always pretty seamless. It's just the Freesat ones take ages for the broadcaster to fix. There is still an issue with EIT now/next data on Ch4+1 in the London bouquet. Has been going on for about a month now. It's ok on Scottish regions.

Those channels have been live for well over a month. It's why I wanted to rename by SID, they didn't have any EPG ID. The lack of ID is probably why they had no EPG.

Most people use the Sky Provider, not Freesat.

It's odd that Freesat took so long to fix the issue with ITV1, but they got there in the end! The C4+1 now/next (actually running status) is not working properly in the London bouquet, so VPS won't work. The EPG schedule for C4+1 is ok, so I just use VPS in safe mode if I have to record anything. I personally prefer the layout of the Freesat channel list.
