Im trying to edit the numbered list of locations when I press the movie list button (movie list button -> yellow location button).

My wife and kids need it as simple as possible as ive caught them roaming lost in the Internal Flash!

I just want recorded movies (on the internal hdd) and my 2 network mounts listed, but I seem to have locations which I cant remove.

There are currently 6 entries:
1 (other)
2 Parents <------- want to keep
3 ST9500 /media/hdd/ <------- the internal HDD, want to keep but can it be renamed, ie Recordings?
4 Internal flash /
5 Kids <------- want to keep
6 /media/hdd/movie

What ive tried : (all file edits done with receiver in standby)
  • In Movie List Setup -> 'Add bookmark' seems to toggle between adding and removing '/media/hdd/movie' (the menu option always says 'Add Bookmark' though). It doesn't actually remove it either, it moves it from the end of the list to an earlier position, basically shuffles the list.
  • bringing up bookmarks, movie list -> location -> (1)other. There are only 2 bookmarks listed here '/media/net/kids/' and '/media/hdd/' so I cant remove any others with blue button.
  • deleting all my entries in '/etc/fstab' (but not deleting the 6 entries upto 'usbfs').
  • deleting all entries in '/etc/auto.network'.
After editing the 2 files above and restarting the Vu I had three entries in the Movie List :
1 (other)
2 ST9500
3 Internal Flash <-- Aaaaaggghhhh its still there!

Autofs also contained these entries:
rootfs / auto defaults 1 1
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts mode=0620,gid=5 0 0
usbdevfs /proc/bus/usb usbdevfs noauto 0 0
tmpfs /var/volatile tmpfs defaults 0 0
usbfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs defaults 0 0

Is one of these responsible for '3 Internal flash' ? I darn't remove any as im not experienced enough with enigma2.

In an ideal world Id love to be able to decide what goes into this list as even having the '1 (other)' item there presents an issue as my kids will pee about with it (naughty buggers).

Is it possible to completely edit this list or at least remove 'Internal flash' from it? Cheers

Ive taken an image of the box and in fstab removed :
1) usbfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs defaults 0 0
2) usbdevfs /proc/bus/usb usbdevfs noauto 0 0

rebooted after 1 and then 2 but Movie list unchanged.

Im beginning to think a bug is involved as ive tried removing the bookmarks in '1 (other)' which should be removable with the blue remove button and they don't even remove from the list (even after full power down/up reboot).

Put the two entries in fstab back so I don't break anything.

Any dev's out there who help can help with explaining how this works?

I've been looking in this area as i want to ensure that the bookmarks you actually add end up in alphabetic (i.e. consistent) order. You can remove these.
As far as I can remember the ones at the top are a mixture of hard-wired and dynamically-generated from other bits of configuration.

Thanks birdman, I was beginning to think no-one was remotely interested in the question.

So the question is how is the Movie List made up, what files are responsible and from where...

Hopefully a dev/knowledgeable user might help out.

After a little digging this is what ive uncovered :

The two settings available in Network Mount Manager dictate where the shares are stored:
autofs : mount as needed - share stored in '/etc/auto.network'
fstab : mount at boot - share stored in '/etc/fstab'

Sometimes network shares appear in both the files (and hence appear twice in Movie List)
Im presuming this happens (maybe wrongly) after we add/edit a share in Mount Manager.

This still doesn't explain why we have what seems to be three system entries :
'1 (other)'
'2 HDD name'
'3 Internal flash'

can anyone explain this?

Im surprised after over 100 views there has only been one user chipping in, im adding what I find to help other forum members but im certain someone on here knows all about this stuff....anyone....please???

Looking at view/answer ratio on this site, seems its in danger of dying off.

Is this the end of WOS? Sad if it is.

Way over 200 views and no devs are gonna help me, OK ill have to look elsewhere for help.

This used to be the place to come, a busy thriving site but looking at all the questions and the very few answers they have, looks like World-of-sat is dead in the water.

What gives?

Maybe just no one knows the answer. Give the lads a break. Probably doing their normal jobs or carrying on with their normal life before they start on this lot. Which they do in their free time for no financial gain.

Most of whom will be as unable as you to provide a fix...

Although it doesn't sound as though it's that much of a problem, in that it isn't preventing you using the box. I have ~15 locations, but you seem to be worrying at ~6, all of which show in one menu page and so are selectable by a single key.

And some of the ones you want to remove are there so that you can navigate to places that aren't locaitons. I have stuff copied onto my box from other systems. Now I don't want to confuse things (== me) by putting any new recordings there, so they are not Locations/Bookmarks - but I do want to be able to file-browse to them, so the higher up locations are needed.

When in file list, you can go to menu - settings & change the function of all short & long press coloured buttons.
Any of those options suit?

I have FTP files over from the HDD in my solo2 onto the laptop using VUCC, you may be able to do it this way
worth a try i suppose

You shoukd not be editing files with receiver in standby. Enigma2 must be stopped using "init 4 command" prior to editing files that will be re-written on shutdown, restart or startup.

With regards to internal flash, you could look at iamateaf's edits for crossepg downloader. Bot sure if you will find them here, so search the net. His edits stopped internal flash being an option for soring/downloading epg.

I take it you have not enabled debug logs, otherwise that will show up in your list too.

I never said it was preventing me using the box, it amazes me how one cant simply make a reasonable comment on here without a pedantic comment back. If your setup is that good birdman then maybe we should all use your settings  and not bother with any customisation.

In my quest for help I can say that there are other places where you get an answer and feel like helping others back, this used to be one of those sites, statement of fact, that's not meant to offend any one here, lots of good work still going on, more a 6/10 feeling not the 10/10 from years gone by.

Still love Vix and the contributors for their work.

We're not all software developers, we still only have one primary coder and three or four others submitting minor code to the image and their time tends to be taken up full time with the image.

Believe me if some one knew how to help you they would.

It looks like the movement of this is caused by it coming "early" if it is a bookmark, but of it isn't it gets added by default in the last section (which checks whether it already exists in the list).

The list is made up of:
  • Other (which passes you off to the file browser used when setting timers)
  • All of your Bookmarks/Locations (in the order you create them - I'm looking to get this sorted alphabetically, as it's the order they show up when setting timers, and it helps a lot then to know where you are in the list).
  • All file-system mount points, either local or remote.

Until recently the '/' entry was removed from the final section - the code to ignore it has now been removed (I don't know why).
Given that you want your Bookmarks listed, and it makes sense to have remote disks listed (so you can access them), it's difficult to see what could usefully be removed as a general case.

Hmmm.... My git browser shows what looks like the same commit arriving twice (as 8878c5d43aa658434c4813203a2aba6a4f65eeb5 and 1ab6b41e8357178f1154640d19b9a5a8a71e9239).
Whereas they both add the same code, the former has removed code which did not check for '/', while the latter has removed code which did check for '/'. There's no indication of where that test was dropped.

The reason for the code shuffle was that code was added to allow you to bind a key to a directory location for one-press access. So the list-building code as dropped into a function so that it could be called form multiple other places.
Adding back the test for '/' would be trivial - but there might have been some reason for it's removal(?).

I didn't know that you could now bind locations to the coloured keys - but there is a "bug" there, as the Goto: options occur at random locations in the circular list, which just makes it difficult to know where the item is that you want.
