[VU+ Uno] Flashing to Zeus from VIX 808

Ello All,

I have not been around a while due to my health, my mental state is not that great at the moment either, so can someone please help.

I have been using image 808 for a while now and have noticed that there are now "Zeus" images coming up on the download section.

I tried to download directly from the uno but this did not work, I tried the with Zeus 001 rather than go to the latest image.

Will I have to update via a USB or can I do it through the uno download by remote? Unfortunately, If I need to update via USB I will have to wait until someone comes as I can't even get to the computer! : ((

Needless to say, I have managed to wipe all my settings by trying to do the update via the box . . .

the zeus image is a full image reflash by usb and have been told you cannot use backups so everything.808 was as far as you could go with that image.its start from scratch again and would presume if you used first image could update to last one by remote.

i am still on 808 as you have the option to stay or go forward

Hi Sanjhere, what do you mean by 'but this did not work'?
Can you see Zeus 007 in the image manager downloads?
If so, I'd go with that as it's the latest currently available image & no bootloader update is needed for the UNO.

The uno said it was updating to the image, it rebooted but the screen just got stuck on the nice red flower. I can not access any menus or channels on the uno via the remote now. It's just stuck there.

Cactikid, yes, I did just try the update via the remote after downloading from the blue button.

Looks like you'll need to USB flash so. In theory the image manager download & flash should work, but if it's failed, you're out of luck...
How long did you leave it on the boot screens? any spinning ViX logos appear?

Hello Judge,

I left it for about 15 minutes. At the reboot there was no spinning VIX logo.

I will have to wait until someone pops by so they can save the latest image on the USB and try and flash the box for me.

If you have a phone with mini usb connector, I've used this stick to flash images.



Handy to have if internet goes down or no computer available...

Good Morning Judge,

Unfortunately, my problem is not being able to walk at the moment. My spine is causing problems, so can't walk or bend down to flash the box with a USB.

The USB picture you have posted looks very nifty! I never knew you could buy micro USB flashes!

My friend is coming over later so will ask him to save the image for me on the USB from the computer.

i use micro usb for setting up epg and swap files to that are left into box for use,bigger sticks can get knocked if moving box around and could damage port.

bigger standard usb are better for flashing as more area to grip for ease of use.

I someone can help me I updated my vu duo lastnight from 808 to zeus 07 it all seem to go ok but when it finished it said unplug usb and reboot but now all I get is red light and starting on screen I then flashed boot 3.0 still nothing I then went to arcieve in downloads and put back on v3 firmware all went ok again but same result just starting on front of stb is there anything I can do or is stb bricked any help would be graet

Got the Uno reflashed. My friend helped me download all the settings as well.

The micro USB sticks reminded me of my 1st computer! It had all of 60gb of hard drive and several thousand floppies for the drivers!!

yeah I would love to hear the reason why a backup importer/convertor could not be made.

Maybe someone will make one.

It's fairly easy to make a backup of channel lists, cams, configs... via FTP from a 3.x build & restore on a Zeus build.
A full settings backup from a 3.x build made on the box can't be restored to a Zeus build for various reasons.

Basically because the core of the image for want of a better word, has been vastly updated from ViX 3.0, meaning backups created in ViX 3.0 are no longer compatible with ViX Zeus.

Now rather than spending the next 4 months going round in circles ( again ) only to find out people yet again ignored our warnings not to use backups, we took the option out of their hands in the first place.

or maybe when I can be bothered upgrade without it, but the changelog seems lacking I am not sure of the merits? as the current version is very good why upset the apple cart?

That is not going to happen, this is not about formats. using a older backup will cause you a lot of problems, we stepped in to prevent this because from previous experience people just ignore us when we say not to use backups.

Thats your choice but also remember that ViX 3.0 is now no longer supported, it wont receive any further updates or fixes.

if we worked by that principle ViX would never have been created in the first place.

you are more than welcome to park your receiver on any build you wish. If it works for you thats great but we will continue to grow and evolve ViX for the forseable future.
