[VU+ Duo2] Hades Bug PiP Sound & Front Panel Colour LCD no longer shows current progarmme name

Totally Wiped Vu+ Duo2 for absolutely fresh install of Hades - HDD disconnected & Formatted by PC before reconnection (last of all) & format by Hades - Boot loader Re-flashed with latest Vix download - then flashed Vu+ latest Original Firmware & then finally Hades flashed onto Duo2 - No skins - only plug-in CCCam 2.3 installed via Vix Hades Plugins menu.

1. Activate Picture in Picture (PiP) the sound stops on the main picture - change channel & then come back to channel with failed sound & the sound comes back - is it a bug or is there a setting I am missing?

2. Duo2 Front Panel Colour LCD display no longer displays the name of the current program on screen (everything else is still shown on the Colour LCD) - the Colour LCD instead shows in place of the current program name (as it used to) just the start & end time of the current program - have looked through the settings for LCD4Linux but cannot see anything obvious to get the Programme name back up instead of the start & end time of the current main screen program - do not remember having to set the Colour LCD to display the program name before - is it a bug or a new setting?

3. Any chance of "T9" style text input in Hades for inputting text to search the EPG and also for typing in YouTube search terms - if not full T9 how about press "2" three times in quick succession for "C" "7" four times for "S" etc.

Interesting - PiP previously worked perfectly on this same Vu+ Duo2 receiver running ViX Apollo 014 onwards - Still not working properly on Hades 5 update - PiP Fault (1) Description:-

BBC1 HD on Main Screen> Press "Blue" Twice=Brings up PiP> Press "Blue" Twice again PiP Gone BUT now no sound on BBC1HD - Change BBC1HD to any other channel & come back to BBC1HD sound comes back.

ALSO

Long Press Direction Key Arrow Up (BBC1HD on main screen) PiP selection Menu appears> Select BBC2HD> Sound cuts out on main BBC1HD Picture - I think the PiP bug/fault is slightly improved on Hades5 but is still not fixed - which is infuriating as it was never a problem on Apollo.

Re Fault 2 - Don't know what to think as on Apollo14 onwards the program name was automatically shown on Colour LCD on front of box without changing settings - but now where has that useful function disappeared to on both Hades4&5?

I have this pip issue on my solo2. It's been there since about apollo 24. No big promlem though as I hardly ever use pip.

There is another Vu Driver bug on the Duo2. Check out ESPN HD on Sky UK, the adverts and bumpers are displayed in 4:3, programming and trailers are in 16:9. Everything is in 16:9 on other boxes. It's just ESPN HD, BT Sport HD and ESPN SD are OK. It's the same with Blackhole, so not a ViX issue.

bellejt - Please explain how you fixed this - did an online update from Hades 4 to 5 via the box & no significant Hades bug/fault difference - what is your experience?

Bear in mind Vu+Duo2 is one of the only receivers that can do full HD PiP with full HD Main picture on same TV - but correct me if there are now also other receivers that can also do HD Main Picture with HD PiP Picture both on the same screen at the same time?

PiP was always flawless for me on Duo2 until I updated to Hades on Sunday 10 May 2015!

Not good to hear that many people just put up with PiP issues - if it worked well (as it used to for me) a lot more people would use it!

ATM Hades is a backward step for my Duo2 as have effectively lost PiP & Colour LCD Program name display from Apollo.

But there are only Apollo builds 164,165 & 166 will be the last Apollo so it now has to be Hades.

Expected PiP to work as before to observe the Big Hairy Bull$h1t of the General Election tomorrow - sadly will be limited to just one channel at a time.

Does the HbbTV known issue with OpenOperabrowser in Hades mean YouTube via Duo2 won't currently work?

Hades feels a lot snappier in operation - but annoyed that have lost highly obvious functionality over the older core & slower Apollo - Apollo that is already end of life - Rats.

did extended tests and problem is still present when doing anything else then just PIP.Only switching between channels is working fine with pip.
As soon as I make EPG come up sound goes down on master channel.Pip is also still viewable in main screeen but in blue button shown as not active.

So problem not completely solved.

Issue 1. This is a long standing Vu driver issue. It is nothing to do with the image, and is in all imags no matter which team they are from. Drivers are closed source so the only hope of getting this fixed is if enough people go on Vu's site and report it.

So having said all of that - the point being that PiP worked perfectly on the same hardware before moving to Hades and the problem keeps changing with each newer release of Hades (currently on Hades 10) & each Hades update changes the PiP problem.

So if the problem is caused by drivers which are not changing as often as the Hades image is changing but the PiP problem keeps changing with every single Hades release then it is Hades BUT What about Satellite Receiver Hardware Processing Power? Satellite receivers are not all created equal!

Could that be why you think PiP never worked on ViX - BUT It used to work absolutely perfectly for me!:thumbsup:

Bear in mind that very very few satellite receivers specifications say they can put a full HD picture full screen WITH another full HD picture as the PiP on the main full screen picture - so is the real reason you have always had PiP issues a lack of sufficient processing power in your older? or slower? satellite receiver - by comparison - until Hades - my PiP experience has always been absolutely perfect on a Vu+ Duo2 but the Duo2 specifications state that it can do full HD with HD PiP simultaneously.

So the irony is that lack of Satellite Receiver processing power - perhaps an older receiver? Perhaps a budget receiver? Means HD Main + HD PiP is impossible for most current receivers as the hardware is not powerful enough to support HD PiP - but SD PiP will probably work if one or both of the channels is NOT HD - so it works one time with Standard Definition Main + Standard Definition PiP but not another time & if people do not realise their receiver probably has a hardware limitation of no HD PiP they just blame the image instead!

ad 1: Although VU is known to have (had) many sound issues, this is not a problem on the actual Hades 010. One of the latest driver updates has fixed this.

ad 2: You can configure L4L the way you want it. Just open the settings and go ahead.

ad 3: This is a long standing driver issue. Untill recently we were able to work around this, but recent driver updates have made this impossible.


BTW: PiP-HD isn't related to 'processing power'at all (as you can see for yourself the CPU load will normally only be between 1%-5%). It is related to the hardware having two HD video decoders. Most last generation boxes have two.
