[VU+ Uno] install local extension blank

i ftp'd an ipk file to tmp, pressed blue button/vix/install local ext....the field in there is blank...like there is no ipk to install.
i went to ftp the same file again and get the message this file already exists, do you want to replace? (words along those lines)
i check on my receiver and there is still nothing there.
tried rebooting receiver and still the same result.
i know it is a working ipk file as i had just ftp'd the same file to my solo2 without issue.
if it's of any relevance, the ipk is for iptvplayer.

You putting into root/tmp and not hdd/tmp???

Which is sort-of true.
If you press Yellow (== Extra IPKs) you'll discover the reason.
