I have got a new netgear D7000 router yesterday, normally I have ethernet cable from router going to my box but strangely now I am not having internet connection on my Vu solo2.If I plugin ethernet cable on my laptop, it works perfectly & I get normal internet with wifi switched off but for some reason my box is having no internet connection on the same cable?

Sorted. had to enable DHCP settings from adapter settings

I need help guys, now my DHCP settings are set as yes but still no internet connection this morning? On Network test getting unconfirmed for IP address & Nameserver, any suggestions please?

Try rebooting router and box. Check you cables are connected.

do what Ashley says, first to see if it resolves the issue. depending on router, you may need to enter router settings and check its not blocked. are using mgcamd? if you are check your setup mg-cfg setup.

I have checked my cables, same ethernet cable works fine with my laptop.
Yes using Mgcamd but same with CCcam, even can't get vix plugin downloads.
After restarting router a few times it has started working again ,,,,, fingers crossed

why don't you set a fixed IP in your box ? Copy the gateway address and mask and set a fixed ip in your box in same range (1 higher or Lower). Then your box doesn't get a dfferant address every time and handshaking is not needed.

That will be useful, can you please elaborate a bit on how to do it from setup menu?

As when I tried entering an IP address after disabling DHCP, I am not getting any internet connection on the box?

maybe give your settings from dhcp here so I can advice how to set your fixed IP.Normally it is just disable DHCP and fill in the right parameters.

Anything in my house that may need accessing by FTP, ssh, web if, telnet or share mounted hard drives has a static IP address.

Got there in the end, had to try a few IP addresses & finally found one working on DHCP disabled. Thanks for help Guys

fine :) that it works. You could give the box an IP from 192.168.0.x and gateway is 192.168.0.1 . Second DNS you could always set as the 1ste DNS of your internet provider.
I set my boxes as xxx.100 ,second .110 a,d so on.Easy to remember.By setting sfixed ip it is easy to use in differant programs to access the box.

???
If you use DHCP it should all "Just work". Your router will send you an IP address and tell you which DNS server and gateway to use.

If you are NOT using DHCP then you still need the same DNS server and gateway (both 192.168.0.1 for you). There is no need to add a second DNS server, as your router will be passing on your requests to your ISP anyway (it will have been told by your ISP what it needs to use).
HOWEVER, it is also important if you are using a static IP address that it is not part of the range which your router is using for DHCP (as that would mean it could hand out the same address to a different device, which would leave both of them unusable). So you need to look at your router's configuration, find out what range it is using for DHCP and use something outside of that - the fact that what you have chosen is working at the moment is no guarantee.
