Quatto LNB questions

Hi, i'm new to the forum so thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out. I've been hitting the wall with my satellite setup for months now so I thought i'd finally devote some proper time to resolving it.

I have moved into a home that has satellite sockets all around the house. This is distributed through an Optima 32 way amplifier/quadplexer (Overkill for a house I think) - The optima is fed by a Quattro LNB with the HHi/HLow/VHi/VLow cables. I've got a newish LG tv with a satellite decoder in it but whatever I do I can't get all the channels. I suspect it's not able to signal the optima box to tell it which feed it needs. This is where my expertise/investigations end. I don't know if the TV is telling the optima to switch from H to V using cable voltage (or if it should be) and I don't know if I should be using 22khz tone to maybe switch from hi to low band? I can't seem to get the tv to control the Optima in order to get the whole range of channels (Freeview on Astra 28.2e).

Part of me thinks that something might be broken and the system should just work with the standard settings. The other part of me wonders if I should try to configure 4 distinct satellite dishes in the tv one for each polarity/band.

If anyone has or knows about this sort of setup i'd really welcome any advice.

You have a very simple multiswitch (1 sat input) so it really should not be an issue - how many channels are you getting on the box??
The 22khz switch is normally only used if you have a Quad lnb and you force it to act as a quattro lnb.

The LG TV should be configured as if it's connected to a universal LNB. So it will send voltage changes and 22kHz tone to the Optima to tell it to select the appropriate LNB of the quattro (high/H, high/V, low/H, low/V). This is as you have correctly surmised in your post. It may be that part of the quattro is not working or a cable between the quattro and the switch has broken/shorted/gone open-circuit). Or, the switch may have gone faulty. As @twol has asked - how many channels are you getting on a full scan? It may be that one part of the quadrant is not working and you may be able to narrow it down this way. Then, it might be a simple replacement of the quattro (or cable) or the switch may have developed a fault.

"Optima 32 way amplifier/quadplexer", just mimics the behaviour of a universal LNB, so that is not your problem (unless it is broken).

Thanks for all of your help here - later i'll go through which batches of channels I can get. I guess I can work out which lines are down if it's that side of the switcher. One thing I haven't tried yet is the gain controls on the optima - each lnb line has a pot which is set (from when I moved in) at max - as is the UHF (which also doesn't work properly). I gather from what i've read that just cranking the gain up is no good because it crushes the signal so to speak. There are too many variables! - But i'm really greatful for the 'it mimics a universal lnb' comment - that allows me to zero in on the problem.
