steerable dish problem, is it the motor or the box?

@wozles - how did you "send" the motor to 28.2? I can understand that you did this on the floor of your living room or whatever in order to make sure the box would operate the motor. However, did you set your location coordinates (latitude and longitude) in the box beforehand? Otherwise, the box will use whatever default coordinates are stored in the tuner setup. It's a kind of novel approach to turn the motor to a particular satellite on the ground and then install the dish and motor on the pole and swing it it until you hit the satellite! However - whatever works for you...

Normally, one would make sure the motor was set to zero and then you would centralise the dish exactly on the motor. Then, you would ensure the motor was set to the correct elevation for your latitude. Then you would peak the satellite reception on your southernmost satellite by adjusting the dish elevation and maybe moving the whole assembly on the mounting pole. This ensures that the central arc of the motor is correct and then you can finesse the others by small movements. Providing the lat/long is set correctly in the box, the motor will move to the selected satellite without further manual intervention.

Hey, Joe.
I agree, but I had difficulty finding Thor from my location and I know where Astra2 is from my garden. Yes, I set all coordinates first and zeroed the motor before sending the motor to 28.2.
In my mind there was no difference in doing it my way as long as I was starting from a known point.
I must say I'm glad my dish is not 4 or 5 meters up on a wall, I can use a step ladder.

bellejt, I thought to use goto because it was there.
