Blue button on remote, ViX,
BackupManager -----> menu button on remote ...check save location is OK (HDD).
exit and create new settings backup.
ImageManager ... yellow button download latest OpenViX image ----- Blue button flash (if multiboot installed select different slot)
On reboot, Wizard should find your settings backup, select and then let it restore.
Will Reboot and you should be on latest image with your settings.

In future, I would flash image ... I never use software update.

Type init 4 box freezes....
Copy attachment to given location....
Type init 3 box reboots.....
Blue button still no Back-up manager, nothing changed......
Got new error:
Some plugins are not available:
SystemPlugins/ViX (cannot import name 'CHKROOTMB' from 'Components.Systeminfo'
(/user/lib/enigma2/python/Components/Systeminfo.pyc))

Well that didn't work either.......my box is now useless......
starting.....now only the Openvix logo onscreen and nothing more........

Doesn't react to anything.....Leaves me just one thing....

Can you still telnet? If so type "init 4" followed by "enigma2" and tell me the crash information in the on screen log

You need to reflash your box from USB with the latest version. Currently it looks like you aborted an upgrade half way through.

But before that you could try logging in at the command line and running the following:

init 4 && opkg update && opkg upgrade && reboot

Save the output of putty and post it here.

so assuming that didn't fix via update.. try this.
as before copy attachment to /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Tools

Well, that did not go well.

First you did not copy the command correctly (you seem have included "[K" in the command).

And also your network connection fails to access some feeds. I have checked from here and they are working.

That k comes from the Putty log (i checked twice my input in Putty).....

WOOOHOOOOO
Log in with Putty....
Enter ip user and password
Enter init 4
Enter opkg upgrade....a lot is being downloaded.....finished....
Enter reboot...
My box comes back to live AND with ViX Image Management under the blue button.................

It worked for almost a week until the first update arrived......It's stays this way until a reboot..........

With regards to post 35, you have told it to crate an image backup before performing an update. This is not a default setting, so must have been changed. That is why it took longer. There really is no need to make an image backup when performing a software update. Please change the option to default.

Can you please use image manager to download the same image you are on as well as the next one.
If you want to check that the problem has been resolved, flash the downloaded "current" image. After it reboots , restore settings and plugins, then perform an update .
If you want to overcome the problem and check next time, flash the newest image. After it reboots, restore settings and plugins

I perform software updates like most people and seldom have an issue. So not sure what has happened with your receiver.

Updating by command line is not the same as using software update. Please consider flashing latest image. This will overcome any lingering issues.

strange, i didn't change settings for automatic image back-up, so it must came with the fresh install......set it to no
Used image manager to download and flash newer image....
Edit : Up and running again.....
